3rz throttle body spacer install

So i just ordered a lc engineering throttle body spacer for my 2.7L and i was wondering how hard of an install i had just set myself up for. i have heard that they are not hard to do and i am a decent mechanic, but usually learn things as i go. i also have a k&n air charger kit but their site says that it will work great with this. does anyone know what i am getting into?

well i have a friend that put one on his blazer and its not a bad whistle and he swears that it gave him good power with the same set-up. i have ridden in it and it deffinately does whistle but not enough for that to talk me out of it. does it not give any power increase?

 

i probably will send it back if it isnt going to do anything for performance because im not just looking for a noise maker.

 

Nope the throttle body spacers only helped with CARB motors since they needed the a/f mixture to be atomized before it hit the cylinder.

 

yeah, i didnt know that. looks like i have an order to cancel. thanks! just wish i woulda ask before i ordered it. you have any advice on a good muffler. i do want some more sound and every bit of power that i can get out of it. i plan on getting the lc engineering headers sometime down the line. but thats gonna be a while.

 

I have a throttle body spacer on my 2007 double cab 4.0. I also have the K&N. I like it. I just might be feeling things but I think I get more responce when I step on it. No wistle sound eather. Nice DEEEEEP V6 sound with mine.

 

well i am still getting the part and i am gonna try it out and see what i think. the trail blazer that i know has that set up seems to have more power and the same deep v6 sound you are talking about. and i know that the air charger kit did some work to my 4 banger. even if it just gives me a little more pickup i will be happy, i just want every ounce of power that i can get.

 

i have a k&N 77 series in my 2009 2.7 taco it does whistle a little but not enough to bother me. i did notice some performance and it is a little louder

 

The throttle body spacer basically increases intake plenum size by a small amount. Theoretically you can get a tiny power boost with a slightly worse throttle response: when the throttle opens, air needs to fill a greater volume before it reaches the intake runners. In reality neither effect will be measurable - dead weight.
