I'm so frustrated with my new Fox 2.5s.

That looks adjusted too far down for 700lbs springs. Those coils seem like they would bind.

    All of them.
I've fully flexed them out and still plenty of room. I have a flex ramp at home so it's easy for me to check

Is your sway bar connected while you’re flexing out? Also what’s the measurement of the exposed threads on the shock body from the top cap to the adjuster?

AccuTune set up my 2.5's with 14" 700 lb coils. They ride excellent and my lift is right about 2.25" with a bit of extra weight (bumpers, winch, armor and sliders). Get a new set of springs.

Got pictures? Do you think they could have set it to a 3” lift? Would the system they installed accommodate 3” in the front?

Well the 14” 700lbs coil surgery went well. The lift is back to 3” however one side is almost .5” higher then the other. o_O I’ll give it time to settle in and adjust it after that. The general driving rubbing is now gone so the truck is drivable. The front is hella stiff though as expected. I will adjust the shocks this afternoon and take some pictures of compression (I have some great ditches in my yard) and post them to get some more input. Also I found a local Tacoma guy to do some more cutting of the wheel well so I’m confident I can get close to eliminating all or most rubbing through out the entire shock range. Thanks for all the help guys.

I appreciate the write up and I’m definitely going to read it tonight when I get to my hotel however this is the reason why I paid big money to the experts to begin with so I didn’t have to learn all the technical stuff on this. I don’t know why this industry/hobby is different from others when you can just pay someone to do it right and not have to worry about it. Thank God everything else in the world doesn’t work this way. Can you imagine? I’m in the air-conditioning industry. How would you feel if you spent $9000 for your air conditioning unit and after installation it didn’t work? Then after lots of people tell you you should’ve done your research on how to install an air conditioning unit. You’d be pretty pissed. Anyway I didn’t buy the stuff from you so your help is very much appreciated. thanks

I'll say what accutune can't. They're linking that write up because the information being presented here isn't correct, and the work you're having done isn't the solution if you want an optimally tuned suspension. Look good and stay on pavement? Sure, have at it.

Here is post 194. The wheels I have will not work unless the truck is lifted 3 inches. I explain this to you. So what you really are telling me is I could keep the 13 inch springs and all I would have to do is buy all new wheels with different offsets.

Lift won’t make your tires clear, just trim. I run 295/75r16 on a 16x8 -25mm wheel and I have no issues because I’m fine with trimming my cab mount. I only run maybe 2” of lift. -25 is the most aggressive 16” wheel I’ve seen for Tacomas and I have yet to see anyone have any issues unless they want big tires without being willing to do what is necessary.

Lol. There is soooooo much bad information on this entire forum on this subject. Im 100% convinced everyone wings it and fails and fails until they figure out what kind of works and then posts here on this forum that that had everything in control from the beginning of their Tacoma building adventure and of course that’s total BS. If this was all an exact science and all figured out there would be sticky threads with complete “how to’s” but there isn’t. And even when new dumb asses like myself come on here and ask about what wheels and tires will work with what suspension and lift we get ridiculed for the most part and told to use the search engine. Then when we do we find threads like this one with lots of members giving information all over the place until finally the OP and other interested participants give up looking. But then there is always the guy that enters and tells everyone how f”Ed up they are and if only they knew what he knows!!! Well???? What do you know??? Tell us. Spell it out. Tell us exactly how to make these shocks work right with 33” 285s. I’ll PayPal you money if it works. 1,2,3 go.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
I have 2 inches of lift with same size wheels-12 Ray10s, 285 70 17 tires, Icon UCA’s. Cut plastic, did the cmc and get an actual Offroad shop to do your wheel alignment. Life’s good.
    Wrong gen but same idea.

2” would not work on my truck. I 100% guarantee it. I have 17x9 -13 Fuel wheels and P285/70R17 Toyo AT3s and these Fox 2.5s. I and currently 3” above stock await a CMC and lots of plastic removed and in the right circumstances I still get rubbing. If I only had 2” of lift the rubbing would be catastrophic. Sill there are people here that insist lift doesn’t matter when it comes to rubbing. Well it absolutely does on my truck. Most Tacoma’s I see running around with larger then stock tires are considerably lifted. This entire process has been a total PITA.

if you actually use your truck offroad, lift makes no difference when you actually start flexing it. You may clear just fine without ever flexing, but as soon as you compress the suspension, its going to rub. thats why its called suspension TRAVEL.. and the fox setup you have is considered mid-travel, meaning it has a little more overall travel than stock. Using adjustable coilovers can adjust ride height that it sits at without being flexed, but if you max them at 3 inches, you have no down travel, and you get a more jarring ride. thats why its not recommended to max them out. It also puts your axles at a worse angle, and can wear them out faster. Thats why accutune recommends a total adjusted length of 21 inches from top hat to center eye, because it still allows enough down travel to maintain contact with the road and allow a smooth ride. the higher you raise it, the less down travel you have, and the rougher the ride.

I’d like to apologize for not communicating correctly here. If I lower my truck I won’t even be able to turn without rubbing let alone compress.

You're wasting your time. This guy has a special truck and needs completely different lift, alignment and clearances than everyone else.

@Patton250 have you ever disclosed what your caster is? I remember you saying it was "maxed out", but perhaps that was the max that shop could do. Taking that as a fact may be hindering your goal.

If you're lower cams are not like this. Then your caster is not maxed out. Just a FYI 20210711_174635.jpg
