I had cvm for years and it did nothing so I doubt it ever will explode. just hype.

so if i buy pre market and hold and sell at next day pre market then im good and dont have to worry about being considered a "day trade?"

im just wondering why pre market and after hours exist and why it isnt open to all traders....like i cant trade PM/AH from the phone app or website, only active trader pro.

 

Yea, not sure why it exists either. But yea, just treat it as same day=day trade.

 

if you buy/sell in the same day it is a day trade, regardless of PM or AH or during market hours.
PM or AH is usually a little trickier...orders are restricted to limit orders, there are no trailing stop or stop limits so it's a little 'riskier'. Overall, it's considered riskier to trade during those times.
volume is generally lower and so you can have wild fluctuations in price on relatively low volume...
it's usually institutions that play in the PM/AHs...
i sometimes will buy in PM if there's a pattern developing and want to get in 'early' ahead of market open pop...but i will only buy a smaller lot of shares.

 

I started using the beta version of Fidelity’s app, and I got to say they really improved the interface.

 

I can see how its risky. watched a few stocks run up to 25%+ in PM then get dumped at open. like TRCH for example. if i held on to them i could have sold PM last week when it hit $10+ but i wouldnt have had the capability to since the phone app doesnt have that feature...or at least i havent *tried* to use it

 

Then now would be a great time to buy

So i had $426 puts I could have closed for a minimal loss on that $SPY midday dip...but working and missed it.

 

ASO has completed its 2 dollar regular pull back. Now go up 5-10 over next 7-8 market days.

 

ITRM with a nice 15% gain. Almost back to what I paid finally!
