I don't think that can happen once a VIN is assigned but you never know.

Reminds me of a story I heard while watching Barrett-Jackson auctions. A 1970 Shelby GT 500 came up for bid, and commentator Steve Magnante (he's a walking encyclopedia of US automotive history) explained that Ford didn't sell all their 1969's and this was one of the 1969's that got re-VIN'd as a 1970 under FBI supervision.
Here's an article describing it: https://www.hotrod.com/articles/1970-shelby-gt-500-hand-me-down/
A snip: "As the official '69 model year expired, there were still 789 unsold Shelby vehicles sitting in lots. From a manufacturer's standpoint, this was not good. So the authorities were contacted, and under the supervision of FBI agents, the windshields were removed, the VIN tags were removed, and new VIN tags that stated the vehicles were '70 models were installed. Then the windshields were reinstalled. The destruction of the old plates was overseen by the agents as well."

The Toyota dealer across the street from me, that I can see, has 5 new tacomas sitting on the lawn. They look nice. No shortage here in SoCal. They just charge a lot

    Yeah.
Neighbor just brought home a white TRD Pro for his son who only has his permit. WTF. I had to wait until I was over 50 to get a Pro!

Checked local inventory, 34 total vehicles, 11 of those are trucks: 4 Tacomas (2 SR, 1 SR5 in Army Green, 1 Off Road) and 7 Tundras. Just noticed that the SR and SR5 models are built in San Antonio, Off Road was built in Baja.

Taiwan has a heck of lot more water than AZ, and they're having water table issues. To the point that they have to move the location of the 2nm fab they were getting ready to build. And they are trucking water into at least one of the existing fabs.

So again, NO...I don't. I think politicians were blinded by $$$$

Is that the same as Scott Clark Toyota? Looks like 4x2s are picking up in demand or aren’t quite selling as quickly as 4x4s.

My 4x2 was made in San Antonio as well. My previous Off Road was built on Mexico if my memory is correct.

When are dealers gonna start bringing in the cardboard cutouts of vehicles to fill the lot space?

I was at my dealer today (fuel pump recall) and they had five new Tacomas. I've noticed for sometime that their mostly SR5s, and the few ORs and Sports have no options.

Them not being able to get water locally because of a regional drought isn't at all the same as them causing the said drought.

Took delivery tonight with 5 miles on the OD. The finance manager said I found the needle in the haystack. Indeed I did. Love the color and can't wait to get the TRD Pro rims on it (shipped). Once again kudos to Kolosso Toyota in Appleton, WI and salesman Mike Reith for being straight shooters and delivering on time and at a fair price (for the times we are in).

It's bad enough dealers don't have new vehicles but I do windshield replacements and there is a massive shortage on glass. Even some dealers have back orders on oem windows. It's bad like really bad. I have a customer waiting 2 months for a audi q7 windshield. Still havent heard from the dealer when its supposed to come in everytime I call they say we are not sure when its supposed to come in.

Noticed Tacoma inventory steadily increasing locally. A Toyota dealer finance manager told me last week there will be a flood of Toyota inventory in approximately 21 days now that Toyota will be manufacturing without the “chip.” According to him, Toyota will issue a recall to have the “chip” installed later on.
