I'm trying to figure out the exact M8 bolt I need, not sure on the thread pitch. I brought along one of the rivnuts to the local store to test them when I bought the last set, so I need to go back and see which they were before I order them. For now the black oxide ones have turned into a nice rusty orange

edit - looking up how to determine the pitch, I guess I could just measure it off one of the bolts I have

I run a 50mm 0rise stem with a 800mm wide 20mm rise bar and it works for me on my bike geometry. I had swapped out from a 70mm stem and a 725 bar with 20mm rise.
Made me feel more upright when i pedal and more stable.

things you can also play with your stem stack height, seat hight angle and position, rotation of the bar which are all free things you can do to try and get it fitted perfectly to you

    yup yup.

Already got the seat placed pretty well for leg geometry and the handlebars are adjusted to be as high as possible but I find myself leaning forward more than I'd like.

It doesn't help that I'm a bit tall for a L bike frame. That said when I ride XL bikes for hours I have to adjust those things and still end up wanting to replace some components for better ergos too.

Another thing is tires. I have a Goodyear MTB pattern tire on the rear and a Kenda XC style tire on the front. I'm thinking about picking up a new tire for the rear and moving the rear tire to the front so I have more traction up front

A shorter stem will help from reaching so far forward
You can also try getting a high rise bar and seeing if you can stack the stem higher, or is it already on top

It's already on top. I put a new Rockshox fork on it last year and didn't cut the steer tube at all so I could set it up hiiiigh

I have a road bike stem in the junk pile like that. Goes 3" straight forward of the steer tube. On an XXL frame it make it super uncomfortable to ride any further than the end of the driveway
