Hey, the Pirates have won 6 of 9. I'll enjoy it until the fire sale next month. On a positive note, they have the first pick in the draft and there seems to be more than one great choice.

 

I am going to one of the SF/Pirates games next month. Looking forward to the (hopeful) beat down to keep you guys in the first pick.

 

The first pick in this year's draft is based on LAST year's record. What happens this year is inconsequential to that pick.

 

But you guys are still at the bottom, still potentially giving you the first round pick based on this season too, yes?

 

At the end of this season, the draft order for 2022's draft will be determined by the 2021 records.

 

So I am correct at saying that we are hopefully going to keep you the #1 pick. I didn't say at which draft.

Not to belabor, but currently - at the moment - they don't have the worst record in the MLB - division: yes, Majors: no, so if the season ended today they would not have the #1 pick for 2022, thus no #1 pick to keep. Enjoy the game when you go.

2 out of our 3 best fielders are on the DL [same players as above, Mondesi and Benintendi].
2 out of our 3 best starters are on the DL.
and
2 out of our 3 best relievers are on the DL.

Cannot continue winning in small markets with those numbers.

 

12.5 out isn’t season’s over territory yet. What I like most about baseball is the lack of predictability. More than any other major league sport underdogs can still win.
