Been wanting a Taco for the last two years. Last January I finally sold my 2003 Dakota and got my 2019 TRD sport DCSB. No regrets.

No no no. New one is better. Old is slow and weak and not as nice looking.

However, if your 1st Gen came with a manual shift T-case, then there might be some regret... some. Not a lot, but just a little.

I'm in the process of starting a woodworking business, so a truck would be ideal. Not 100% necessary, but I do worry about not being able to find a manual, in the not so distant future. I know that right now is not exactly the best time to buy a truck, but I am in the position nonetheless.

The payments make me sick thing was mostly sarcasm, but going from no payments to having payments does suck. Besides, mostly wanting to know if anyone thinks their purchase was not worth it. The resale value is there, and it is a Tacoma...if I play things smart, it will last longer than I do...haha

If my 1st gen had been a manual I'd still be driving it and not a 3rd.

No regrets buying mine at all. I bought it May 16 for $2,500 under MSRP. Not only do I love the truck, it's the only vehicle I've ever owned that's actually appreciated $4,000 (according to KBB) after rolling it off the dealer lot.

Buy away as long as you are ok with the fact that you are going to pay too much for it right now. Or...buy something used outside of that 10 year (late model) window that used cars are inflated at right now, and wait the market out for a few months.

Had an 03 AC TRD. 5 speed. Miss the shit out of it. Regret not keeping it, but frame was shot. 20 DCLB now. Good truck and I’ll keep it. Does everything I need it to do and then some.

I hear you. Payments make me sick too. That's why I paid off my 3rd gen in full. I sold it last year though about 2 years after I paid it off.

I actually want to buy an older Tacoma now.

    I wouldn't recommend the 3rd gen.

Get the 3rd Gen in Manual and write off the car payments via your woodworking business. Easy peasy. ;)

I bought my 19’ TRD Sport DCSB manual at the end of 2019 and it was the one of the last Manuals in the area and they knocked off another $4K being close to years end (b4 Covid). Talk about a score! Love everyday I get to drive it. But as of now I still only have 12k on the odometer. Basically still smells new!
Go for it… you won’t regret it!

I bought a 2019 TRD OR Access Cab. I love this setup and that I have a 6 ft. bed. The price was great on it (12% off MSRP).

My only disappointment is Entunes 2 as it was out of date in 2016.

Why you wouldn’t recommend a 3rd gen taco?
