Good tip. Recently moved rack back but probably wasn’t far enough. Didn’t like using the lights up there now cause it hindered more then helped haha.

    also - spot beam only

do not use a wide cornering or combo pattern up top.

Not really. I found moving it back to make a difference, not the pattern.

I had all spot and the bar forward, produced stupid hood glare.

I moved it back with all spot, hood glare is gone.

I swapped the outer two sections for wide cornering, no change in hood glare and was beneficial to throw the light wider since the bar is so high.

Yea been in others rigs with floods and definitely doesn’t seem to do you any favors other than light the hood and front bumper.

4E8F6EEB-AA8A-42AA-B2D5-01E3BC95A245.jpg Here’s what I’m working with. Want to swap out the outdated piaas to something more legitimate but also would like to do a round light to match the older styling.

Loving the BD lights - only a matter of time before I finally give in and replace that CaliRaised 40" with an S8 I can't afford. 861880CA-6D30-44BE-BD32-BEBD536E5F96.jpg

Also - BD, if you're listening - I would love to buy some S2s with a downward angled bracket to eventually replace my current roof rack downlighting setup. I've looked around but can't seem to find anything to make it work and don't want to fab it myself. Got any recommendations?

LP6s or LP9s are what you seek, I also recommend spot beam only, the BDs spill enough light to the sides in spot pattern to light up more then just a pencil beam. You don’t really benefit from a flood style optic on the roof.

Pics of the side of your rack? The S2 brackets as is do just fine with side lighting.

    Only closeup I could find:

In Use (before I found the dimming function):

I really like the downward focus so I can see what's happening around the truck from the drone strike view. I don't know if I'm gonna get the same without brackets

Oh like the overhead camera view? You should be able to get the S2's aimed inward enough. I aimed mine more outward cuz I use it for outward scene lighting on trails, race recovery efforts, etc. Even still I can light up from basically the running boards out.

Yeah exactly the overhead view. That's maybe a better descriptor than drone strike but I swear the first dozen times I saw it I felt like I was a moment away from getting bombed on. Anyhow I think some downward angled flush mount brackets would be awesome.

Awesome thanks I’ll give those a look! And Baja Designs sell a harness or it make more sense to just build my own?

Every BD light I've purchased comes with its own in-line fuse and switch if that's what you mean.

Edit: off topic, but sick FJ80 bro. That thing looks like a beast

Meant as in do they make a harness to run 4 together on the roof. Or just have to wire them all together and make my own.

Ah yeah, make your own. That's what I did at least.

Each pair comes equipped to be wired together but for more than 2 you'll be on your own to figure it out.

Lol I'm good for now but when these go out I'll be ready for an ultra-bright upgrade. Hopefully something exists to fill my need by then

With that many lights you’ll wanna make your own, it’ll be cleaner that way as well.

Randy disagrees. You gave me bad information. What kind of business are you even trying to run?
