Well Like a Dumb A$$ I wasn't paying attention and when I was backing up in a very tight space I did not see the concert pole behind me. Well I'm sure you know what happens next. Crushed the rear bumper, just left of center and dented the tailgate as well. So I'm dropping the truck off tomorrow over at Car Crafters in Albuquerque to have $1500.00 worth of work done. That will teach me to use the damn backup camera, which I actually use, just not that time. Lesson learned.

I give ya credit for owning that mishap. Stuff happens. It's just a machine, it can be fixed

Yeah, hurt my pride and ego more than anything. But crap happens. Luckily it's only $500 out if my pocket to do this otherwise I would have waited. Couldn't find a decent aftermarket bumper that took everything for under a grand.

You are correct sir. Hurt my ego and pride but I'll own hitting that pole. Stupid mistake.

I did not get out and actually walk around to see if there was anything back there. I was in a storage unit parking lot, I was looking at the mirrors and listening to my wife and daughter arguing about something stupid. Again like I said I should have used the back up camera. Would have saved me $500.00 that I could have spent on what I actually wanted for the truck. Hard lesson learned.

This exact thing happened to me once when my then ex-wife was riding shotgun, doing her best to distract an otherwise infallible motorist. Lucky for me, I have that funny and true "excuse". I also no longer have the dented bumper, just the funny memory.

Tall enough I should have seen the damn thing. Stock ride on the Taco damage ended just above the Tacoma lettering on the tailgate. To be honest I didn't measure it. The guy that ran the place came out looked at it, checked his key pad, said it worked and all was good. So I bailed. Stupid mistake on my end that will never happen again.

You weren't using the backup sonar? Should of been beeping at ya. Saved me a few times, lol.

The damn thing goes off when it wants. I thought the same thing. I'm having the body shop look at that tomorrow. It's funny I can back out of the driveway and come close to the mail box and it will beep until I stop, other times I'll be backing into a parking spot and nothing. But I do use it if and when it decides to actually go off.

I'll be bold and likely affirm I'm an asshole

Try an old trick that I learned in Driver's Ed. Turn around and look.

Might be helpful with flaky or unused nanny systems.

I backed my ‘84 into a bright yellow pole. I got lucky and just tweaked the bumper. What a Maroon

I wish I could say I tweaked the bumper, I could let ride the way it is but I'm to damn anal about the way it looks. Again $$$ lesson learned.

I’d send it. Come to think of it, people on the road stayed the F away from me after that. Let’s see a pic

Probably wouldn't help with a post that stops below mid tailgate. I can tell people that you're an asshole, anyway, if that helps. ;)

Next time the wife is arguing with the daughter make her get out and spot for you when you are backing up .
