    Me either.

And also, if the truck in in 2WD, you reach up and turn the front driveshaft by hand to get to the zerks.
One of them can be difficult to get to, Once you figure it out, It’s not bad the next time.

And I’ll repeat this, like I do every time “pulling a driveshaft” comes up.

    - IMPORTANT -
Set the E-brake AND chock the wheels. Once you pull the drive shaft, the truck is free to roll.
Unless the E-brake is on. And I never want to trust 1 safety when my life is at stake.

That's what I was thinking....what a weird sticker on an OEM driveshaft.

My truck needs to go in for the frame rust coating recall anyway so I am going to ask them to take a look at the driveshaft and tell me what's up with it before I attempt to pull it.

Appreciate the help guys. You guys are awesome.

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
Now you mention that sticker you found on the driveshaft so I have to ask, is it a one piece driveshaft?

Nope it looks like everyone else's driveshaft two pieces, three u joints, 1 carrier bearing, 3 zerks to grease. But I noticed the sticker when I was checking out the carrier bearing. I will take a picture of it next time I'm under there.

After googling I haven't found much except there was a Toyota service bulletin about driveshaft vibration issues before so maybe this driveshaft was replaced at some point? IDK.

That sticker is on my '14 driveshaft since day one and also on my new spare one. I'm sure it's pretty standard on all the truck. It just means that the entire assembly was balanced with all sections connected. This is why when disconnecting sections of the driveline, it's best to mark the flanges and reconnect to the same spot so the sections will not go out of phase afterward.

When the grinding happens, does the traction control light go on or any other indicators go off on the dash?

Nope no lights or dash errors. I'm now convinced the "grinding" is more a vibrating sound.

Just make sure you put match marks on the flanges and splines junctions.

On it. The few videos I've watched have stressed this so it's the first thing I'll do.

Yep. Nothing loose or damaged that I can see. Everything looks solidly together and tight.

Did you ever solve the problem. I have a similar problem with a crackling noise under the truck around 1800 rpm too but I think mine is spark knock.

Not yet. Heat shields seem good, greased the driveshaft and haven't heard a difference. Convinced it's more of a vibration but it's not coming from the engine compartment like a spark knock so if yours is that's a relatively easy fix. Good luck.

If it's a driveline vibration issue, then it should only occur at a certain rpm range, and you should be able to duplicate it by just reving it to that specific RPM range. If it only happens when going uphill, then it's load related and you may have to look elsewhere.

Have you checked or changed your transmission fluid? I once had a slight dragging sound when pulling out of Park, and it was caused by being low on tranny fluid, by about almost a quart. I was only able to pinpoint it because I just did a transmission flush on the truck.

It's definitely rpm specific right around 1800-1900rpm. It's worse going uphill that's when I hear it most. I can hold the rpm at 1800 and keep it going. Check my video I posted.

I haven't done transmission fluid yet and don't know if it's ever been done but it's on my list along with the differentials and transfer case and new plugs. Thanks!
