Fitting 35’s with minimal trimming NOW ADDING LONG TRAVEL AND 934 CV’s

What is the frame height? 35s, correct? It looks like you're running no lift whatsoever.

this is long travel suspension...no lift kits anywhere near this shop unless they are being removed.

 

I’m gonna let you in on a little secret. Long travel can still provide lift, i.e. the trucks static ride height is higher than that from the factory.

 

Most folks aim to run a 50/50 up/down travel split to maximize traction. For desert driving ground clearance is not as much of a concern. The +2 kit may give you about an inch of lift just from the longer arms and the 35’s will net you a couple of inches too so all together 2-3” taller than stock. The 35’s eating up the gap to the fenders even with the cut fenders make it look like it’s sitting low.

 

This is what I was trying to determine. The truck looks super low given how much has been cut from the fenders/flares, thus the frame height question.

 

Its awesome how everybody in here seems to have a different use for their trucks, yet JD seemed to somehow cater to every single use. Just mind blowing what knowledge and years of experience can bring to the table. Its awesome to see these ideas come to reality.

 

It's because they make parts for trucks not people. We all share a common intersection of Tacoma fun, misery and off-roading. There's a lot of shortfalls with these trucks for extreme use. JD's stuff is aimed directly at those needs.

I set them up to sit really low and when you go spring under you can still have a good amount of uptravel.

 

What kind of numbers are we talking for uptravel with the SUA?

 

8” of up travel at stock ride height

 

Its about 14" travel in the front (with the new inner fenders) and 19" in the rear. realistically that's probably about ~13 and ~18 in use. You can set your ride height accordingly.

Ah I set my 63s up with close to 6" bump. But seeing what Harry did with his hanger set up and some other things I'm going to be switching some stuff up in the rear. Bump for me isn't as necessary but I still shoot for around 1/3 bump

 

well add the thickness of the leafpack and some for the bump, that's your difference with SUA

 

Exactly. The U402 pack is pretty thick. Rides nice, but I find the bump stops way too often and I really dont want to stiffen the shocks more because they are already on that edge of uncomfortable. Either way, these springs are at a negative arch when I bump them.

 

There is no comparison, spring under is night and day. Not just because of the up travel but the additional arch the springs have is what allows them to be so plush. On a Tacoma the springs go negative at full bump which makes them ride like shit
