    Hello,

I'm new to the forum and to vehicle modifications. I was wondering if anyone has installed the Injen Evolution Cold Air Intake with Dry Filter with hood struts installed? I would like to know if there is enough clearance for the hood sruts before I purchase the Air intake.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    Hood struts - worthwhile investment.
CAI - according to many TW members they offer a poor return on your investment.

Appreciate the input, and it sounds about right. $400 for a CAI, for 12-15 extra HP. I guess I'll hold off on the CAI and put my money for more practical use items. Thanks again.

Has that been dyno-proven, or just a marketing tidbit?

The Tacoma already has a stock CAI, just get a dry filter . Save monies and buy other mods

Get the HPS intake pipe. All the benefits of a CAI (better sound from resonator delete) at half the cost, and you keep the stock airbox.

The stock airbox is the same size as the V8 Tundra's, so no flow restriction there.

lol you only get marginal hp improvement at WOT, and that's only a few hp...maybe...depending on a lot of things like barometric pressure and whether a black cat crossed your yard last night and you throw salt over your left shoulder...

Truth be known. Marketing claims need to have data to back the claim.

Now, the hook. K&N, Ingen and similar likely have test data to back the 12-15 Hp claim. Although, that particular test engine could be a specific engine used only for dyno testing. It probably doesn't represent ALL or ANY engine in consumer vehicles. The test engine could be burning a special formulated fuel and sport all sorts of tweaks that are not on common engines.

Save your $$, don't spend on aftermarket CAI systems.

I tried a K&N system on my '04 GMC Sierra 2500HD with the 6.0 L. My before versus after fuel economy did not change. Power......well my butt dyno couldn't detect any difference. Although, the engine had a more appealing sound.

Yup, not getting a CAI. Settled on the HPS pipe with the AFE panel filter.

I know you asked about intakes, but I would take that money and get your Tacoma tuned if you haven’t done so already.

Search for KDMax on here. I guarantee you it will make more of a difference than any intake you would buy.

Done already. Had a pedal commander, and sold it. Used the money for the KDMax Tune.
