Thought I'd post my 2020 SR 4x4 V6. Simple 2" spacer and 1" block in back. I'll eventually go the strut and shock route. For now, I'm looking to add fogs, 20% tint around, and possibly some running boards/steps.

Looks good! How’s the ride with the 2/1 spacer/block combo? I’ve been thinking about doing it for a while. What brand did you go with?

Thanks! I was able to drive the truck lifted on stock tires and didn't notice one bit of difference. After getting the new wheels/tires installed, I noticed a little difference, maybe a slightly rougher ride but nothing that I regret doing. I don't recall the brand of the spacers. I bought the spacers on Amazon and the rear block on eBay.

What's good SR bros. Dropping a pic of my modded SR with SX package. 2 months and 1300 miles old. I think I'm good for now until I end up adding fog lights eventually.

Hey guys, thinking about buying a 2021 SR Utility Pkg. Dealer buy me has a couple for $29k.. Figured I should just send it.

As far as the back seats go, obviously the utility pkg has the storage back there or whatever. Does anyone know if you can swap that out for the back jump seats and seat belts later on?

    Just curious.

JCW front bumper, Apex 12k winch, bar light. Alpine ILX 507, Kicker DX speakers, amber grill light bar, yellow LED fogs, LED headlights, bed mat, bed lights, front camera, rock lights, dash cam, seat jackers, recovery gear, Overland Equipment Aux fuse kit, C4 bumber braces.
Must be a 2wd 4 cylinder for that price. I would not add seats, add storage instead. You could build some kinda locking box back there for secure storage.

Found this thread saying it can be done, might have a hard time putting in seatbelts though

Its a 4x4 4cyl... kinda in a pinch and need a vehicle within the next couple of weeks.

Bought a 2nd gen base 4x4 manual in November, only had 15k miles. finally built it up how I wanted & absolutely smoked an elk on I-70 near Golden, CO Friday and totaled her.

About to get completely shafted by this market

    ^^^ Dang.

The pricing isn't too bad on the lower trims, IMO, with all the stuff they come with these days like the automatic braking and Android Auto/CarPlay. I bought mine on Memorial Day weekend -- had AutoTrader alerts set up in a 500 mile radius and one popped up on Thursday night. Called them, put a deposit down and picked it up on Saturday. It was MSRP + $199 doc fee + tax. There was a $500 rebate through the end of May so it ended up being $30,767 for a regular (non-utility) SR with a few options: keyless, rubber mats, door sill protectors (wanted that stuff) and a $90 chrome exhaust tip (eh). This was out of state so I did have to pay $2k when I registered it (why the OTD is low).

I could've handled the utility's black bumpers but really wanted the rear sliding window and had to have the intermittent wipers, plus the jump seats will be handy a few times a year.

No doubt. Dont NEED the jump seats, but would definitely love to have them. I could also deal with the bumper, but would replace eventually. I like everything bare bones, then I can wrench on it and upgrade as I go.

$29k is a bit out of my budget, but hoping I get a decent payout on my old one. Damn shame. Fuc**** elk

Did you get the 3.5 or the 2.7?

Would you happen to know if the 4cyl is prewired for foglights?

I bet you will do a little better than you think.

Our old/our kid's '17 Corolla just got totaled a few weeks ago (ruled 100% not his fault) and the other person's insurance ended up paying out $16,900. Initially they were going to do $14,500 which honestly was better than I was expecting, but most of their comps were from Feb and March and on former rental cars at buy-here-pay-here lots so we kicked it back and I sent in a bunch of examples in the $17-18k range from Toyota dealers, CarMax and Carvana since it was clean, 1-owner, dealer-serviced, had new Michelins, etc. If their offer is low, pull your own comps with the inflated current market (esp low mileage/mint ones that are going for a premium right now) and have them redo it with recent examples.

We sold it to him for the payoff ($5k) last year when he was having trouble finding something reasonable used... but he put the entire settlement and a few extra grand down on a new RAV4 hybrid and has a $200ish payment for 4 years. He wanted the RAV4 then but didn't want a $500+ car payment for 5+ years, but $200ish is totally do-able and will help build credit.

Damn, yeah I definitely need to do that. Truck was in mint condition when I totaled it. Had 45k miles, was a toyota certified pre-owned, and clean car-fax.

Seeing a bunch of SRs in Ohio with 50-60k miles for 27-28k. Probably will end up going that direction. Totally fine with the 4 cyl, don't need to go anywhere fast. Hopefully can get one sooner rather than later.

    Bummer on the crash.

The utility SR is a great deal IMO. It may be the cheapest new 4wd truck you can buy (?).

I just picked up a used 2021 SR Utility 4WD for $29k, which is more or less MSRP on a new one but this was cherry - owned by a person not a fleet - and you can't buy a Tacoma around here for under MSRP + $5,000; assuming you can even find one. Mine came with door sill protectors, all weather mats. I added a bed mat, hitch and wiring myself.

It's obviously possible to add seats and such as another poster describes in his thread. My takeaway from that thread though was it's a pretty expensive proposition and honestly those jump seats are about worthless anyway unless you absolutely have to have seats back there for kids. My kids are adults and I'd never have anyone back there so the utility option was better for me. Buying new, it's $1700 cheaper, too.

The 2021 SR utility has AC, PW, PM, PDL, radar CC, Apple / Android auto, intermittent wipers, privacy glass, driver's lumbar. For a base truck it's actually pretty "loaded". But... no slider. No remote entry. The safety features like lane departure seem pretty worthless to me (I can't even hear the alert chirping at me with the windows down). The passive braking feature works pretty well. The auto dimming bright headlights work about 80% of the time, depending on curvature of the road and how close to each other oncoming cars are.

I know I paid more than I should have but I got exactly what I wanted from CarMax surprisingly! They also have a 30 day no questions asked return policy. So it gives you time to get a pre-purchase inspection from a mechanic of your choosing and if it’s not to your liking you can bring it right back. I ended up getting a 2017 2.7L access manual transmission 4x4 with convenience package for $28,900 with 36,000 miles. I used my own financing through my credit union and just for peace of mind ended up getting my credit unions bumper to bumper warranty for the life of the loan. The warranty only cost an extra $18 per month and only requires a $50 deductible for any repairs. I know it’s not a great deal but sometimes to get exactly what you want you have to pay a little, especially in this market. Also, you can look for vehicles in other areas and if you find one CarMax will trailer it to the CarMax location closest to you for a fee. I live in south Florida and my truck was in Georgia so it cost $199 to have it delivered. Just another option if youre looking for something specific like I was. Honestly, it was the easiest car buying experience I ever had, and they don’t act like they’re selling Ferraris like most slimy Toyota dealers when you go into buy a manual transmission tacoma.
