I need to vent for a sec, about work.

There's this one company that we buy from, that over the course of the last month or two has been a complete shit show. Orders constantly late, different people getting different answers when we reach out to them and therefore making me look like an idiot, lack of response when I do my part and reach out to them for info/updates on late orders, the works.

All of this causes me to get "hate email" from our Customer Service Reps on a daily basis, multiple times a day, because they are constantly asking me for info/updates and I don't have any to give unfortunately, and keep getting told that this needs to be escalated, I need to escalate, escalate escalate, ESCALATE. My supervisor changed roles and is no longer my supervisor, my temp supervisor knows about the issues, the person in charge of our department knows the issues, the new person below the person in charge of the department knows the issues, and another person that kind of is "in charge" of the line of business that I work in for our company also knows about the issues.

When my supervisor was my supervisor, I told her that something needed to change or that I would need to start making changes myself, and I also told her that I did not want to work with/handle that company anymore. Told the same thing to the person that kind of is "in charge" of the line of business. Told the same thing to the new person below the person in charge of the department.

Clearly my input and opinion is falling on deaf ears. And I've just about had it that I am seriously contemplating putting in my two week notice and just be done with it. Problem is that the Mrs won't let me quit without having another job. And yes, she knows the situation and how much it stresses me out. I've talked to her about this multiple times. And also about the fact that I just don't enjoy my job anymore because I am sick and tired of feeling like someone has it out for me due to things that have happened in the past, that I also brought up to my "old" supervisor.

Guess it's time I take matters into my own hands since no one seems to give a flying fuck, and seriously start the job hunt. SERIOUSLY though. Look everyday and start applying to stuff. I'm fed up.

My buddy is paying people 30+ to paint and do basic shit. Your wife must have benefits being a teacher, you don't need them. How many years has this job already stolen from your life with all this stress? I'm not joking about that. It's gonna kill you early.

There are tons of jobs out there, they might be different than what you do now, who gives a shit! It also might be something that changes your life and leads to a new avenue you never thought and happiness beyond your wild dreams. As a former real estate agent, house to house salesman, dog trainer, lawn mower etc... who turned into a wedding venue owner and couldn't be happier, I'm speaking from experience. What you're doing now isn't for you, what better time than now when everyone is hiring to try a few new gigs.

You are articulate, seem decently intelligent and most importantly seem willing to work hard EVERY day for your family. That last bit will get you a lot more jobs than you might think. Go outside the box and try for something you've thought about but never had the balls to do. I don't know how much you make, and it isn't my business. But if you can simplify and extend your lifespand in exchange for a few bucks it will be worth it. Your extra energy and positive attitude will eventually convince the wife as well even if you can't take as many vacations in the future.

Oh, and one thing I've learned and may be the biggest thing thats influenced my actions in the past 5 years is this: Ain't no one give a fuck about you, but you. So if you want something, you have to go get it.

obviously not talking about your wife, but the general public.

Hey Nuno, @Bridge4 is correct. There are TONS of jobs everywhere and a lot of people are short staffed and hiring to fill immediate positions. It doesn't hurt to get your resume out there and take "a couple of interviews" to see what others are offering. You have a very good skill set and you want to go where you will feel appreciated. Having the new job lined up gives you and your wife piece of mind without making an impulsive decision.

 

My question is who is pushing you to escalate? If it's the customer service reps, they can F off. It's THEIR job to deal with customers and explain supply line issues resulting from a worldwide pandemic. Tune them out like background noise. If it's management that is pushing the escalate narrative, that's a different issue. If they are, they need to give you backup and bitch to their corresponding level people at your supplier. Either way, in your shoes, I'd start looking on the down low and I'd also work with a headhunter familiar with your industry. I've a number of acquaintances who are corporate recruiters (i.e. "headhunters") and they are excellent at matching job candidates with positions. And their fee is paid by the firm, not the candidate. Often it's more cost effective for a company to farm out a job search than tie up their own staff searching for a qualified candidate.

 

I'm at a similar point in my career after 21 years where I'm starting to ponder looking. Can't hurt to at least research similar jobs, which I need to do. Maybe I'll end up finding out where I am is the best option at the moment in all but I need to look either way to determine that.

I carry the insurance which is a nice bonus since it's very well funded by the company. It's the little things each year that get taken away that is what's getting to me

 

It's the customer service reps pushing it, because the company we're buying from is a complete shit show. But the fact that the people above me are aware of the issue, and don't seem to be doing anything about it (at least as far as I know since they haven't even responded to the emails I send them giving them the heads up and FYIs), that really comes across (to me at least) that they don't give a flying fuck. So if they don't, then why should I? I'm nobody's punching bag.

But either way, the BS has become too much to deal with. The search will begin for sure.

I had a similar situation at one job that i really enjoyed , my asshole supervisor was pissed when he found out that i accepted a job in another branch of the phone company, he asked me why i didn't tell him , So i asked him if it would have made a difference---No response.

Them he said that he wanted to give me a going away party , I said no, If your going to stand in front of everyone and tell them that i did an excellent job that i did you could have promoted me. The party never took place and people were asking me why i was taking a demotion to a union job--They thought I was Management, I informed them that within a year that i would be making more money than they were as 2nd level management.

The asshole that was my boss wanted to take me out to lunch as a personal favor to him so he could look good for his boss, so I went with him to a very expensive restaurant ordered the most expensive thing on the menu and didn't take one bite, so F him ,that non bite sure tasted great.

Within one week i was making $150.00 more my first week and within a year my pay went from $802.00 wk to $1200.00-1500.00wk.

So as others here have said, You have been going down this ongoing road to Hell for a few years so now its time to take the fork in the road. The unknown road usually has many pleasures , you've found the door to open that you created , you have experience selling ? a product , the product may change but the process is transferrable . I went from telephones to a teacher at a Tech. school, to delivering truck parts , to an engineer installing Telephone equipment in Central office's , to manager of engineering at a Contractor level installing telephone Eq. throughout New England.

You have the skills - some hidden but they will surface when you least expect them .

Good morning folks.
Got my truck back from the dealer (after having it there 4 or 5 times over the past month or so - had it there so many times I lost count). Started with a check engine light and ended up with two new cylinder heads a couple of fuel injectors AND new oil pressure sending unit (after I found it leaking oil when they gave it back to me!). All covered under warranty. To their credit, they had me in a brand new loaner car (RAV4) all that time at no charge. Hopefully, that’s the last of it. Whew!
