Most of my 4000+ mp3's I got from Napster.....Likewise was good at first and then went "every other download is a virus."

Before you could download you had to go to Tower Records or Sam Goody to listen to new albums. It always made me feel uncomfortable.

Remember when you got into a fight at school, figured out who was the better fighter, and afterwards you respected each other from then on?

None of this "zero tolerance" crap!

Back then it was character and skill building to get into fights. Either made you a man or at least more effective at resolving issues without the help of an adult.

    The cat fights were hysterical!!!

I tried a similar club once, called CDX under BMG. I forget the exact deal, but it was a 3-part deal. First part was like 6 CDs for $5?, second was 3 CDs at full price, third part was 3 at half price, 12 CDs in total.

I did the first part of the deal, then CDX went under. BMG never came after me for the rest of the deal. Back in 1990-something, getting 6 CDs for $5 was a good deal.

    8 Tracks. :frusty::bananadead:

Had an under dash Pioneer unit with Jensen Triax speakers.
    Well it sounded good, but...
that unit was a heavy boat anchor and you just about needed some I-beam supports to prevent the dash from sagging.
    underdash_eight_track_player.jpg

    Oh, and the tapes themselves?
    They just sucked.
When they worked, the player would change tracks usually in the middle of a guitar solo.

    Ahhh, 8 Tracks...

I bought one of the first ever 8-track tape RECORDERS and I became the most popular guy in my college dorm. Got old fast, though, because recording stuff for others took up a lot of my time; that and so many guys saying "Could I have one of your blank tapes, and I'll pay ya back later?" with "later" never coming.

Thanks, never had any 8 track capability so I missed that boat. Had Napster for a bit, but dial up internet made for few if any downloads successful.

I had one of these that I bought in 1970. I could record albums on open reel at 3-3/4 ips, then dupe to 8-track at double speed 7-1/2 ips. ;)

Ford introduced 8 track quadraphonic in the late 70’s. My ‘78 came with it. Sadly when 8 track died I replaced it with cassette. The player sat on my garage shelf for a couple if decades. Now I wish I’d kept it.

Back around 1990, a friend bought an '84 Z-28 from the original owner who was an "old guy" around 50.
Car had a factory 8 Track in it. I believe '84 was the last year it was available in a GM car.
