That's really odd then. Something else mustn't be right. That would only be 2" of lift. A bad alignment would make it ride pretty bad, or too much tire pressure.

 

Damn, tire pressure is good. Ive played with that a bit. I have had the truck aligned as well, multiple times.

Im getting gnarly progressive bump tracking. If I am taking a normal turn on a bumpy road I can feel the wheels wanting to pull away as if the tires are loosing traction for a moment. Feels like the suspension is barely moving at all.

The box the coils came in said 314. Would it be possible they were mislabeled? Any way to confirm the coil type after its been installed? I don’t recall any markings on the outside.

 

How's your alignment? Caster angle?

What's your hub to fender measurement up front, just to make sure you're not over-lifted.

The coils have white tags on them that show the part number. Otherwise you'd have to spec it out, which means pull it off the vehicle and use the specs in the 1st post of this thread to verify what they are.

 

Get used to it my man. I have dobinsons stuff and it's just super stiff. Kinda funny how nobody wants to admit it, but it is. If it helps, over the next 2 months it will lighten up a BIT, but not to the point of feeling soft.

I'm pretty happy overall with my dobinsons struts and springs especially given what I paid, but it is a stiff ride. It will loosen up a tad bit, but don't ever expect anything plushy with that setup.

I purchased the Dobo UCA’s from you so my caster has the 3deg built in.

If you have any insight about where exactly to measure the fender that would be helpful. Center to front, back? - Level line? Etc.

I can’t imagine I am overlifted, I followed all the specs and it seems to be sitting nice at about 2”

Could you go below the 213 center of eye to seat base? - Interestingly I initially followed the note on your site for 223mm for the tacoma. Maybe thats if you want 3” but the ride Was way stiffer then, so I can back down, but it didn’t lighten up much.

If you go lower than 213mm, the sway bar can/will make contact with the coilover during it's cycle, which is why it's the lowest recommended height for the coil seat. Unless you're not running a front sway bar.

 

Are you running the twin tube shock?

I found the twin tubes to be very firm compared to TRD OR stock suspension but the MRR with the same spring (314) is really plush and with compression open rides like a dream.

Perhaps the firmness is more of a dobinson twin tube thing rather than a dobinsons thing in general.

 

My 314's on the mra are not harsh. Can you feel bumps, yes, but it's vastly improved over off road bilsteins.

 

I have the Dobinsons C59-350 Front Lifted Coil springs and the Dobinsons GS59-220 Pair of Extended Length Front Struts. They are a lot stiffer or harsher than the stock bilsteins, but, they do prevent bouncing better. Guess I should have splurged for the MRR's.

Did you remove a leaf to make them 110? I’m about to put leafs springs on and though if 111 would be to rough with no weight but great when pulling my boat.

 

Fronts for now until the IMS rears are out.

Interesting. I have the IMS inline (non resi) on the front. I suspect maybe this is the culprit.

I came from front fox 2.5 before and it was super plush. I was actually looking for something more basic and cheaper he cheaper the change. I figured the ride quality would decrease, but not by such a drastic amount. Shoulda just balled on the the MRR. Damn.

Unfortunately I don't have the earlier measurement of my rear suspension. But I did take earlier measurements and determined that I lost ~3/4" with just the topper alone. As of today (taking measurements like suggested earlier), I measure 22.5" on the driver side (with full tank of gas). And 22.75 on the passenger side.

Thank You @Crikeymike . Wish I would have measured before and after. But I didn't. Regardless, I'm very pleased with the results. And the ride is comfortable also. I have no problem recommending this product.

 

That's great to hear. An after-measurement can still be helpful (and add it to your post with the photos for future reference, to help others), from the center of the hub up to the fender edge. Probably 24" or so usually with those springs and some weight.
