Wheel well to tire gap off left to right

I've noticed that my rear left tire appears further back than my rear right tire, has anyone seen this before? Tire wear looks normal, drives good, but looks off. Any ideas what to look at? Thanks

 

Measure the gap between the cab and the bed on each side. See what you come up with to rule that out?

also, do you have to cut the fenders to install the bushwackers?

Are both sides of bed the same distance from ground?

 

Bed could be crooked. Easy fix. Start by checking that out.

 

Assuming your front end is aligned, measure center-hub front to center-hub rear on both sides to ensure your rear axle isn't somehow skewed.

 

The gap between the cab and the bed are nearly the same on both sides, the right a little bit smaller.

If it drives fine then I wouldn't worry about it. Mine is the same way and I fretted over it for awhile thinking my rear axle was tweaked or my frame was twisted, etc.

If it was then you'd be dog tracking down the road and you'd definitely know it.

This is actually fairly common with trucks and 1st gens in particular. Mine's a little over 1" difference side to side.

As the leaf springs are compressed the axel moves back. So this could be just the common “taco lean”?

 

Have you owned that truck since new? Looks like it has been fixed before. Issue may be with the panel itself

 

No I got it when I was 16, I'm in my early 20's now

I am on drugs and drunk (which is usually true), or it is the lighting , or your truck has been fixed improperly. Look at the body lines at the bottom along the rocker and compare right to left. Look by the front flare bolt on the bed panel. I don’t see the body line, or the one at the bottom of cab side or door?

 

I see what you mean lol, but that's gotta be the lighting. More light on one side filling in the shadow so you don't see the body lines there.

 

Lol yeah it's just the lighting, although I did have to run out and check just to make sure haha

There seems to be about a 3/4 inch difference, but it could be within the margin of error for eyeballing a tape measure on the driveway

 

My real advice then is to measure. When you want to measure suspension you can usually do it by starting from some point on the frame to a point on the axle or suspension .

I am not familiar with your frame, maybe someone else can help. Try and find a place on the frame that is the same on both sides. Use that as a measure point to measure to each point somewhere on the end of the axle or hub. That can tell you if you are dog walking, or the axle orientation is crooked.

 

poke your head under the truck and see if the bumpstop is centered on the axle. Could have sheared the centering pin on the leaf spring and the axle is pushed back on that side.
