I'll keep up with my spill n fills. The old oil is definitely darker and slightly burnt every change I've done.

The recommended maintenance schedule states 120,000 miles for the first replacement of ATF. I am skeptical. How far are folks actually driving before replacement?

My trans temps are routinely high. If you're skeptical about anything, it should be a one size fits all maintenance schedule. This is just what I do w my truck in my situation.

Thanks for the feedback! Although my 6-10's would disagree with you.

I've seen similar trans. temps as Skydvrr has reported here on our truck and I've got a 11" X 11" TruCool trans. cooler installed. I know the cooler is doing it's job because I've felt the inlet (hot) and compared it to the discharge hose on the aftermarket cooler and there is a clear and unmistakable difference in temperature. I see TC temps. over 200° F on days when the ambient temperature is 80° F. Unbelievable but true.

I am an ex-submariner and preventative maintenance was nothing short of a religion on the boat. But 4 transmission drain and fills in 65,000 miles feels a bit excessive! I guess if done correctly it certainly won't hurt anything to swap the fluid out that often, but I really don't think you are buying your gear box any more time in doing so. But hey, your time and your money so have fun!

This is pretty much what I have resolved to do myself. Just change a few qts. every oil change or so. Keeps it from going bad and it's not exactly hard to do this way.

200 is normal operating temp for me on most days. Now that the ambient has gone up just drivin down the freeway in 5th is over 200. Any hint of a load and it's 210+

Interesting as I've had dozens of vehicles with A/Ts over the years, drove them many miles, never had the A/T fluid changed in any and have never had a problem with an A/T.
Maybe, changing your fluid too much is causing your problems. ;)

Keep in mind 1 spill n fill is like 3 quarts. Total sys capacity is like 12 I believe.

Yeah. It's basically like a 30-45 min job even with removing the mid skid. Not too bad.

Nopers. I should though. I had super small synchro brass in one of my changes. From what I heard it's just a screen anyway?

Not sure I dented my pan and am gonna pull it and replace it. Might as well check the screen while I'm in before I put a new gasket on seal it up and full it up
