The tacoma owners manual specifically defines "severe conditions". It's not a subjective term of art.

I meant a real source, not "flat earth" type...
Also, it has nothing to do with 3rd gen engine

Youtube never disappoints. Now I'm getting suggestions to watch Sasquatch videos.

Definitely get the low profile version. The "long" one will poke out a little from your pro skid IIRC.

Also, just my $0.02 of opinion, but I try to pull the valve every so often, like 30k miles. I'm not sure the thickness of the oil pan and the length of the threaded portion of the Fumoto valve are the same dimension, so it might help clear out any left over filth from the bottom of the pan.

Going with 10k oil changes because the factory says so is like replacing your OEM tires with same...because the "factory" said so. I believe in raising the bar...to add extra life to my vehicle not the other way around.

They done it on purpose so people let dealerships do it. I do my own stuff, but when I plan to change engine oil in Tacoma I set aside 1 hour...to do it right...

I believe the owner manual also says for regular service (not severe) that the oil change is 10,000 miles or 1 year. So if its been a year or more then you are due even if its only 4,000 mile. oil and the additive package deteriorate over time once combustion contaminates get in.

Toyota gives the recommendations on when to change the oil based on design, components used and actual testing with the components used.

If, you want to do it more often because you want to or you think it's even better for long term engine health, fine. Don't bring in some made up facts/assumptions to support your viewpoint unless you have some actual testing to prove your point.

Low tension rings need more frequent oil changes? No, they don't necessarily. As long as they get proper lubrication, that's what they need. If an oil does that for 3,000 or 25,000 miles depends on oil and operating conditions.

On one hand we have a manual with the maintenance recommendations for various types of driving, written by the manufacturer.

On the other hand we have some yahoos from the internet.

What to do, what to do...

I’ll see your two, and lower it to one fastener. It works with one fastener that doesn’t need to be removed.
I don’t use the second bolt.
The cover stays in place without rattling.
Just swing it over for access to the filter.
You could run it without the hole cover.
Not pretty, but it works for a wind deflector.

All you need is a hole saw:

I've alway changed oil and filter in my '96 at 5,000 miles an it has 414,000 trouble-free miles on it without even an engine cover being removed so I will do the same on my '18 TRD Sport.
Even with removing the skid plate removal (your '19 does not have an access) and cartridge type filter it only takes me about 20 minutes about twice per year to change my oil so not worth it to me to install a
    spin-on adaptor and/or Furmoto plug.

You can run your mouth all day long, does not make what you say true. The Car nut guy works on these rigs and knows what he's talking about.

Guy's like you make me laugh! If a few years from now 3rd gens start consuming excessive oil, I dought you'll apologize for mis-leading others.

But you have no problem stating your opinion as fact, when you really have no clue.

Not sure why you'd think that(moron maybe?). but it's every 5~7k miles or 6 months.

Spell checker aside, please elucidate what will happen if 3rd gens are NOT found to consume excessive oil in a few years?

Sasquatch will always be real because nobody has proved it doesn't exist.......

There's always a douchebag that feels the need to correct someone's spelling, usually when they have nothing to add to the post.

If it turns out that 3rd gens are NOT found to consume oil after some years from now, then nothing I posted has hurt anyone. That's my point.
