Love the look of the tires with no lift. You mentioned hammering the pinch weld but did you do a CMC? I'm currently planning on 285/70/17 with no lift so I'm curious what I'm gonna have to cut

I’m not the person you asked but I’ve done it for buddies of mine. Depending on the brand of tire. Front viper cut, cut some plastic off on the rear of the wheel well, cmc and pinch weld. You can probably get away with less but if you wheel you need as much space as possible

MJE_Tacoma is correct. If you want to run 285s without a lift, you'll need to do the pinch weld, CMC, remove some plastic/fender liner and a front viper cut. I will say that if you plan to take the truck off-roading, I would be mindful what lines you take cause you will rub.

I have lifted the truck since that picture so I have not done my cmc yet (also, because I'm kinda tired of working on the truck since I did a lot of work in the past 2 months). I didn't want to do the front viper cut since I want to sell the front bumper when I get my high clearance bumper. I will get to it eventually but I'm holding off since I'm trying to learn how to weld and want to weld a plate the same time I do the chop.

Continuation of my last 3 posts. Photo heavy...again

Early/Mid June - Finally got my Rago Fabrication center console molle (still no cb antenna mount, delayed). 6 front runner quick release awning mounts, front runner wind fairing, pelican vault for recovery gear, front runner traction board mounts, maxtrax. Also added rear work lights/chase lights to my diamondback cover (with quick disconnect near the front of the bed when I take off the diamondback), changed the clear lens on the squadron sports to amber

Before - with radio connections on passenger side

Passenger side w/ midland micromobile gmrs radio

Front runner quick release awning mounts (did 3 on each side, passenger is for awning, driver for privacy tent/shower room, but since there are 3 on each side, I can use both side for either one).

Dr. ColorChip is a good alternative to the touch-up pens. It's a bit more expensive (2-3x), but I think it gives a cleaner look. It also seems to be a more permanent solution. I usually order it from Autogeek.

Got KDMAX and I love it. Also I got the 949 steering wheel spacer to help with my height issues. Installing it Thursday. I post pics then.

Continuation of my last 4 posts...lol. Should be caught up on all the mods I've done since early April. Might have missed some small ones. Photo heavy again

Got tired of the rubbing and decided to install my lift (05+ Tacoma Mid Travel Suspension Kit, Stage 4A – Fox). I'm still waiting on the rear shocks and deaver stage 2 leaf springs so I bought a $70 3" spacer block and extended u-bolts on Amazon (hoping to be able to return this). Also did extended rear brake lines. Took me about 12.5 hrs on a saturday with a buddy.

Front - Fox 2.5" Remote Reservoir DSC with Icon Tubular UCA Delta Joint w/ 650lb springs.

    Before (passenger)
    IMG_5062.jpg
    After (driver)
    IMG_5063.jpg
    Before (passenger) & After (driver)
    IMG_5064.jpg

    Rear - 3" Spacer
Will not be posting this lol. Spacer is only a temporary fix. My truck is not a pavement princess. I will make a new post once I get the rear shocks and leaf springs.

After the 12.5 hr install (12:30am), got an alignment the next day, also refilled the brake fluid since I went from Max to Min when installing the new extended brake lines.
    IMG_5065.jpg

Also, did a 3 day trip in Frederickburgs, TX on the Texas Hill Country Overlanding Route. This was more of a shakedown trip for my 7 day trip to Colorado in late july. Learned a lot about the new mods.

    Cons
    - Need to move the CB Radio since my right leg rests on it and is uncomfortable on the long drives
    - I'm hitting my rear bumpstops because of the spacers. Accutune got back to me and said I should be receiving my rear shocks and leaf springs in 2 weeks (fingers crossed). I really need these for Colorado.
    - MPGs suck (11.5mpg on highway going 75-80mph). If I drive at 60mph, I can get 14-15mpg and off-road as well. Good thing I don't keep all the gear on my truck since I daily this.
    - Need to regear. Stayed in 4th gear on highway, sometimes 5th if the road was flat.
    - My dometic fridge killed my starter battery after 5-6 hours. Definitely need dual batteries (on the way).
    - Need to have somewhere to place radio mics/handheld radios.
    - Need to tint work lights/chase lights yellow/amber for better visibility and to attract less bugs.

    Pros
    - Privacy Room/shower room came in clutch on day 2. Ranch owners let us use the open RV spot to hook up for power and water. Our group of 23 was able to connect a waterport shower head to the RV Hose and use my shower room to shower.
    - Awning came in clutch again (first in big bend, now here). Shade + protection from morning rain.
    - Dometic fridge kept the food and beer cold for our group. Plus everyone enjoyed the ice cream sandwiches the second night :)
    - We ended up using my ARB tire patch kit for another vehicle that drove over a screw on the trail. Happy to have it since no one else had one.
    - RGB LED Light strip I installed in the iKamper was very useful. It runs off of the 12v Panel (usb) I installed in the bed. (bad quality photo).
    IMG_CFEA6BBB4FA0-1.jpg

Full expedition set up. Will really only have this gear on occasionally. I usually run only the gear I need for a trip.
