Our little dog discovered the concrete slab in our basement is the spot to be and stands at the door asking to be let down there. Most of the time you'll find him completely prone for full belly contact. Can't help but always telling him "I feel ya lil buddy!"

I stopped in the tourist infested Naples causeway to grab this on my way through this afternoon because it was the last they had in stock. Will be using it on Little Sebago this wknd.

At least we can drive through without the stupid bridge. (Spent my first 18 years of life in Naples)

Heat pumps are the cat's ass. We have one in the bedroom and one in the living room. Supply about 80% of our heat in the winter. The humidity in my house is currently at 53%. VERY comfortable compared to the outside. And, it's 70 F in the house. I may need to put on a flannel!

I am struggling to find a true cost savings when installing them. Their estimated life (based on the warranty is 12 years) and I don't know that I will save $1000/year based on the install price of around $12000. I don't know if they worth the $1000 for ease of use and convenience, but they may be. It's hard to find someone who has actual use cases in a newer house, with a newer boiler, in a colder part of the state (my house has nothing between it and Mt Washington so the cold wind blows in the winter).

A buddy of mine had one put in and was not happy when he got his first electric bill. Said he felt he spent more money and house wasn’t really warmer.

Have no experience with heat pumps myself, but I do wonder if it really makes sense after you factor in the electrical bills. Suppose it would be easy enough to do some calcs and convert into cost per BTU or kWh and then that would give you the best comparison across different fuels

My house was built in 1986, with a major addition added in 2016. Two story, fairly open concept on ground floor. Total area is about 1700 sq ft. I heat/cool with the heat pumps, and supplement heating with a pellet stove when it's low 20's or below. I burned about 1.25 tons of pellets last winter. My electric bill ranges from $80 to $150/per month. The highest being the coldest months, the lowest being spring, late summer, early fall months. Only 2 adults live here using electric dryer and electric water heater. The pumps are both Mitsubishi 12K BTU units. One installed in the bed room in 2016, the second installed in the living room in 2018. Both installations were roughly $4000 by Royal River Heat Pumps. Overall, I like them and would install again knowing what I know.

I don't know if any of this is helpful to you. Give me a holler if you would like to discuss further.

We heat with pellet stove and oil, go through just over two skids of pellets, using an englander stove bought at Home Depot. Oil supplies heat and hot water, probably use about 2 tanks a year. About 1500 sq ft.

are the pumps 4 grand install each?

We were quoted a 36k BTU system with 4 heads, two 9ks in the bedrooms upstairs, one 6k in the bedroom downstairs, and one 12k in the living room/kitchen. Our whole home is about 2650 sqft and 2000 sqft would be cooled by the heat pumps. The 9k units would be in 450 sqft bedrooms, the 6k in a 400 sqft bedroom, and the 12k handling about 600 sqft. Currently, I have two 8k portable units which aren't cooling one of the 450 sqft rooms, but that is partially because they are on the top floor and the first floor has no AC. I am going to put in a 25k window unit on the first floor Friday to see if that makes the 2nd floor better. If the 25k doesn't make a major difference, then heat pumps may be the only choice.

Any chance you can put the 25K unit on the second floor? When we only had the up stairs pump, we could cool the whole house since it was on the second floor. The old hot air rises thingy.

They were $4000 each. It would have only been about $300 less if I did them at the same time. Needed to save up a little more money.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I love the Tacoma wave. This guy in a lifted early second gen double cab long bed white Tacoma was hanging halfway out his window in Westbrook earlier giving me the rock on sign and it was amazing haha
