Question about factory exhaust size?

I purchase a Gibson stainless exhaust tip to install on my factory pipe where it exits. I read that the factory size is 2.5 so that's what size tip I ordered. I got the tip today and it's the exact same size as the beveled factory end. I had planned on cutting the beveled end off and just sliding this tip over the pipe but it will be too big. Is the pipe coming from the muffler back 2.25??

so is the inlet to the muffler 2.25 and the outlet 2.5?

 

Wow, old thread. The pipes are 2.25" in and out of the muffler and the end piece (behind the passenger wheel) is stretched to 2.5".

haha. yeah, i just came across your thread so i figured i would try and ask. lol. but thanks cuz i really dont want to get the wrong size muffler.

 

You can get 2.25" OD for the muffler but they can weld in 2.5" as well.
