For those that have been following my spontaneous bike purchase whilst on vacation saga. Legit transport has been secured.

Reached back out to the guy I got the bike from and made him an offer on his roof rack :notsure:

Monte Sano, locally. It was a good ride, just couldn’t handle the heat very well. It’ll get better. My mental game is weak so having another riding friend around here is a big help.

The SB130 is in the mix solely because I did get to demo it and it rides less like a downcountry bike and more like an XC+ bike. The other points you made are valid though and appreciated. I will never, ever, ride, nor own another “S” model again.

    not enough.
It rained here pretty good but it was already so dry that the dust just soaked up the water. Not as hero as I thought it would be. but at least the views are amazing.

I assume most Specialized mountain bikes have more than this amount of travel? Just wondering if they have anything that comes close (?)

Was going to suggest shipping it, but looks like you found a rack. Congrats, good fun!

For your riding style, definitely get yourself on the Ripley. Worth the demo to at least feel it out. It's one of the most sprightly bikes in the category and loves putting on long miles and time in the saddle.
Stay on the large bikes, get used to the new geo numbers, and you'll love them. They don't feel that different at all on the flats/ups, but sure feel way more confidence inspiring going down.
As stated earlier, availability will be really hard right now. Most bikes and parts will start coming back into stock this fall, but some are pushed into next spring.

finally got my lazy ass up early enough to bike to work. it was a motorless morning in garden of the gods today too so it worked out great (they dont allow cars or motorcycles on the road for a few hours).

also saw some big horned sheep for the first time! got real scared when I got real close. guess i couldnt focus on taking pictures, riding, and staying away from them at the same time so i only got a distance shot. but wow i got close

National Parks need more motorless days.

This car parades in protected areas are out of control

Anyone do a custom mount for load bars utilizing the side bed rails? I know you can buy the fork-mount style bike rack that attaches directly to the rail, but that's not what I'm looking for. I have Thule square load bars with foot packs and Rocky Mounts bike racks from my previous car and I want a custom way to mount to the rails so I don't have to put it on the roof.
