Look in the back of your Owner's Manual (OM). It will clearly specify the API (American Petroleum Institute) grade, the viscosity and the change interval. The oil fill cap (710 cap) will have Grade and Viscosity reminder printed on it.

Any oil (brand) meeting or exceeding the API grade is perfect.
Viscosity can be based on ambient temperatures. Learn or find a Temperature vs Viscosity chart.
Your truck has an oil change reminder system. The OM will detail how to reset and use the oil change reminder.

You won't go wrong following the OM.

I use Castrol Edge full synth because I always have. There's a guy on youtube who says there's a [secret?] Toyota service bulletin or something that specifies that only dino oil should be used in the 1GR-FE. It doesn't say why. I was thinking about switching but I have always used synthetic and always had good results and no leaks as of yet (knock on wood).

    Hi Mia,

I know my hubby has insisted on using Mobil 1 full synthetic in our vehicles (2009 Tacoma & 2003 Nissan Pathfinder---both only owners) since we bought them. It does allow us to go longer between oil changes (about 5,000 miles). The Tacoma has been really babied, as my hubby was chronically ill & couldn't take her out like we wanted. Even though she's parked/garaged, she still runs great whenever I take her out. Our Nissan Pathfinder is still awesome at 150,xxx miles and our nephew is super excited to receive it from us for his birthday!! (He'd really love the Taco, but I think my dad's getting that lol).

This post needs to be deleted. People have SOME small bit of responsibility not to post pure garbage as if it’s actually information.

FYI, I do the same thing. I had a new Jug Split a seam. Came home to 5Qts of oil on my garage floor. Now I store those jugs in a Clean Waiters Tubs so It'll catch a busted jug and I can still use the Oil. Just a thought.... Badzook

Not a bad idea. Remember what brand split the seam?
