The Dealership is offering an extended warranty of some type. I don't know the details but some kind of price of 1500 dollars.
    Worth it or not?

Only you can determine if it is worth it. If spending $1,500 on a warranty plan will help you sleep at night, then go for it. I personally would put that $1,500 in an emergency fund savings account. They would not sell these things if they did not make money on them.

no, there's a reason you are buying a toyota and not a ford or ram.

I had to say NO!!! to my finance manager like 3 times until he took the hint. I almost got up and left and told him to forget it. I was getting pissed. Finally he took the warranty OFF. The warranty is peace of mind if you want it. BUT... It's a Toyota, already have that piece of mind. Just my worthless $.02 opinion.

I don’t usually get them. And I’ve been purchasing vehicles for the last 30 years. Mostly Toyota’s. My first 3rd gen was a ‘17 TRD Sport 2WD. And I’ve decided to get it since the truck was redesigned and had no reliability history. And I’m glad I did. That truck had the timing cover leak 4 times. But I don’t purchase from the dealer if I don’t have to. So I got it from the credit union that financed the truck for 600 bucks. 100k miles bumper to bumper with no deductible. Most credit unions offer it. Now I have a ‘21 and it was the first thing I told the bank I wanted.

I get it. This is the first time for me, but evidently not the first for this forum.

We actually had a thought to roll the financing over into my Wife's Credit Union. We have it financed through the dealership presently.
    Looking into that.
    Thanks

I think you can get it for cheaper than that, just make sure it's not one of those people that keep calling you

I got one but I did negotiate the price down. Don’t take their first offer. Extended warranty’s usually work in favor of the dealership but if you need it it can pay off. I had one on a previous (Dodge) truck and it save me $3,000.

I got all the options they offered me; not that I wanted/needed them. I just happened to have a two year old screaming and gf in the finance office and wanted to get out asap!

Then after my first service and continuous feedback invites from toyota canada I ripped the dealership a new one (dealership called me while I was still doing second part of survey/feedback). Told them straight up the first service is literally rotating tires and topping fluids so the fact they couldn't wash and vacuum the truck was not impressive.

I said I get it you want everyone to make money hence I took what ever your finance manager offered but ffs its not a grab and go, I am giving you the extra money so you can do a good job and feel proud. I have 5 more free services left. In two months I am at about 10k.

But with all due respect I don't recommend you get anything added on! because the normal warranty they offer you is enough and the rest should be recall issues if its serious enough to toyota.

I made the rookie mistake to ask how much extra warranty is and the finance director straight up said that I do not need it as I am buying a Toyota. He then said if I was buying an F-150 he would insist I buy the warranty haha.

Wouldn't your factory powertrain warranty cover that for the first 100k?

    @ConantTaco
Most extended warranties I've seen cover a max of 125k or 10yr, whichever comes first. Today's vehicles are full of electronics but if you're concerned to the extent of dropping an extra ~1k to cover them I'd question if you trust that manufacturer.

Is 60k miles or 5 years. An extra bonus of an outside extended warranty. Is if the dealer gives you a hard time. All you got to do is call the warranty company and if they see it should be covered by the manufacturer. They’ll deal with it. Had to do that the first time. After trying to deal with corporate.

Gotcha. Interesting that CPO Toyotas come with 100k powertrain (limited) and new only come with 60k...

*edit: was wrong on those #s. New is 150k on powertrain.

This has always annoyed me. I guess they are trying to make buying used a bit more attractive?

Must be the case. Will admit, I didn't realize new was only 60k until looking it up just a few minutes ago. That'd make me take pause about moving from my '17 into a '21 but I'm at 90k so that wouldn't be a loss for me at this point.
