    That didn't happen.
And if it did, it wasn't that bad.
And if it was, that's not a big deal.
And if it is, that's not my fault.
And if it was, I didn't mean it.
And if I did, you deserved it.

So I don't really know squat about Jeeps or solid axles, but that seems a little crazy to me that it's just a c-clip holding the axle shafts in place in the rear....how are ours retained? Don't really hear that happening with Toyotas even on bigger tires. Other shit breaking yeah but not that.

What's the Jeep guy's answer to that if they want to wheel without worrying about it, axle swap?

I probably wouldn't, Jeeps make up 90% of the offroad population here and it would only be a matter of time before it triggered the wrong one

Jeeps have it doubly bad with the C clip setup. The circlip itself can fail and let the shaft come out but if the shaft breaks anywhere the wheel will still fall off. This is a big deal with the Dana 35 rear which is commonly abused with 33+ tires lol

The wheel bearings basically retain the whole shaft on semi float setups like toyotas. The force required to press the wheel bearing on/off is much greater than the force regular driving creates.

When you break a semi float axle it is much less likely that the shaft pulls out and the wheel falls off.

Axle swaps are common, there are c clip eliminator options as well.

Large population here too. Though it was interesting that some of the non-brand-specific off-road club events turn out to be over 90% Toyota.

Yeah there is a huge population of Yotas here too, but man the Jeep populace still makes it pale in comparison.

When I was camping with my dad last weekend, over 2 days we saw maybe 100 vehicles drive by on the fire road past the camp site (main trail that takes you to all the other trails). At least 3/4 of them were Jeeps if not more than that. Usually in big groups

lol, true. I think that all the time, reminds me of the old joke:

A guy is crawling around on the ground under a street light. Cop walks up.
    cop: "What are you doing?"
    guy: "Looking for my wallet."
cop: "Where did you lose it?"
guy: "Back there in the alley."
cop: "Why aren't you looking there?"
guy: "The light is better here."

Not sure why it works out this way. The OR events we have draw mostly Yota people. It's Toyotas as far as you can see.

    Same out in the 559.

The FB group is strong, and they have tons of gatherings.

Hell, I see tons of SAS 3G4R, more than I do 1G Tacoma's.

And even that group makes fun of 3G Tacoma's

One thing I've noticed about this place over the years is local truck-buying preferences were originally Chevrolet and GMC instead of Ford.

But then go to Oklahoma and Ford was the most popular brand of truck. Completely different market preference.

A number of people I know who are driving Toyota today had parents and grandparents that drove these serieses of GM truck.

They were dyed in the wool Chevy truck owners that became dyed in the wool Toyota owners in the mid-1990s.
