You’re competing with idiots and assholes. If you need help with a resume or the application process, I’m happy to lend a hand.

    Yeah.
Surprised that made it through the automated screening. That strategy is a common and obvious one.

I like/hate the hiring process. Some of my best work stories come from that task. (mostly from the spectacular failures) But I've learned on truth and that is there are lies, damn lies, statistics, and resumes.

    Yeah.
Amazing how easy it was to set up pi-hole, and more amazing how much it actually blocks. Super efficient as well, using 3.3% of memory (box has 16GB) and close to zero CPU load. Hit a link to a news website and the blocked queries skyrocketed, and the page displayed super clean with just the news video, nothing else, lol. Local news sites are always the worst. Why didn't I do this sooner?

Drive build completed overnight and dropped all my photos on.

Resisting the urge to wander further down the rabbit hole . . .

I finally got pi-hole going a week ago or so and it is so nice and efficient. My wife likes that it blocks adds in her shitty iOS games she plays. I can’t believe how much it blocks just from my tv.

LOL, no, those 2 clients are the router and localhost. There are 40+ devices on my home network. I have one wireless AP for all the IoT and smart home stuff, one for the security system, and then the main one for PC's, TV's, phones, tablets, and gaming systems. It adds up fast.

I'll have to look into Pi-Hole. My file server is Debian, so maybe I can add Pi-Hole to it to block ads and trackers too.

On my devices I use Brave Browser and AdAway.

So we're in the middle of our annual FISMA/FISCAM audit, and the lead auditor for this particular interview we just had didn't know what GITHUB was.

"Excuse me, you're an IT auditor, correct?"

    "Yes."

"And you don't know what the code repository GITHUB is or what it does?"

    "No."

    "What's your degree in?"

    "History."

"Get the fuck out of here and come back with someone who knows what the fuck they're doing."

I have a meeting with my leadership in 1 minute...

    NICE!!!

I just got a formal apology from the OIG for basically hiring idiots.

They're bringing in some different folks to talk software engineering, code management, and development system security.

    Yeah.
    LOL, that is awesome.

Sounds like the kid that was struggling to install Uverse at my last house. I didn't want to use their WiFi router and wanted a cable run to my hard-wired network. He had the stuff in the truck to make Ethernet cables but didn't know how to do it, told me he had a marketing degree and hadn't been trained on that. I had the stuff so I made my own, but they still had to send someone back to complete the install.

Wondering if this is going to be the norm for a while.
