Yeah... I spoke with a buddy today and he said Marie sold the business. Apparently, the new guys/buyers aren't quite as knowledgeable as Marie so we have lost a good source of information relating to suspension.

Ooohhhh man this makes sense about all of my recent inquiries getting vague answers. Man I hate that, if you don't know just SAY you don't know. Yeesh. They still got me my 6112s in wicked fast time, installed on the right settings.

Looking for the Eibach stage 2 coilovers I found this note on one site.

    Really?

I've never heard of such a thing, and that makes no sense at all.

Edit: I'm guessing it's just some way to waive any liability whatsoever, but I can't understand why they feel the need to do this and other companies don't.

I'm kind of in search of a OME guru. Looking for tips on which coils. Help a brother out?

Okay so I would probably recommend a replacement leaf pack then. An AAL will do you good for a while, but will give up after a year or so. That said I am hard pressed to tell you to get a Heavy leaf pack... I had the Dakar heavies on my 05 Tacoma and it rode pretty poorly (granted I didn't have a ton of additional weight out back). I'm tempted to tell you to either get a medium duty leaf pack with a small block to get the height you want or else go with a progressive setup like the Icon RXT.

Up front the world is your oyster since you aren't trying to get 3" out of suspension lift. What kind of money are you looking at spending?

I know somewhere they have a chart showing lift amounts with different coils. I know a little off the top of my head, what questions do you have specifically? For Coil choice you kind of just need to know how much lift you want and if you plan on adding weight up front.

I'm trying to stay under $2,500. I have a local quote for less than that but that's with reusing the stock coils. Might be a bit more for full coilovers, but my shop thought the reduced labor and parts might offset much of that. Of course, he cannot yet find them in stock (Eibach stage 2). The Icon leaf pack is not a problem.

I don't have any of those Eibach kits in stock either. Under $2,500 with a shop install? If you had a little more scratch to offer up there you could even go with like Icon stage 1 all around with a full pack :notsure:. You would get the lift and a pretty good ride out of it too.

Mainly which coil up front. I've figured I will need the heavy duty pack out back since I have a decked system, homemade rack and RTT. I dont have a front bumper but would like to add one, will eventually have a roof rack. I want about 2" lift up front. From what I'm reading with a 2" I might be able to get away without having to get new UPAs right away. Thoughts? I also look around for that chart. Sent ARB an email last week, nothing yet.

Don't go just based on my memory, but if you're planning on a full bumper or even a steel low profile bumper as well as a roof rack with anything on it, (or for sure if you're getting a winch) seems like you may want to consider the 886 coils which are the ones meant for added front end weight. You'll need info from them to be sure but I believe it's designed to lift it 2 inches or so with that extra weight. The added benefit there is that they will handle the added weight better than simply getting 888 coils which would lift it about 3" and letting it sag to 2" from the weight. One downside could be that I recall some people saying the suspension was a little rough if you install the 886 coils before you're ready to add the heavy front end parts.

If I can help with anything else PM me, I don't want to take over OP's thread.

Well, that's my current quote, but with factory coils. He said with full coilovers the price might go up a bit but also saves on labor and some parts so shouldn't be too bad. Good to know the quote is at least in the ballpark of reasonable.

I'll keep the Icon in mind. The shop is currently searching for the Eibach state 2 package so we'll see what he comes up with.

I think the Icon is more than I need. I'm trying to find the balance between a small lift and reasonable ride and price. I could probably just add a leaf to help with load carrying and call it good, but that's no fun, and I think I'll need new shocks before long anyway.

Honestly I haven't seen an Eibach Stage 2 setup in my own hands, but my impression by looking at them is that you would be suited just as well going with a set of Bilstein 5100s and either replacing coils from your stock setup or going with something like the OME 887. I just went down this path with @tonered and that's where he landed (5100s and Icon RXT). He won't be able to weigh in yet as he just placed the order, but I can tell you that it will likely perform just as well as the Eibach for your use case and you'll come in cheaper. Just a thought.

You could also go with something similar to what @theluharlifestyle mentioned with the OME kit. I wouldn't recommend the Dakar pack though as it is stiff as a board unless you have a decent load in the rear.

I definitely can't weigh in, but my goal is to retain on road handling as I do like chucking the Taco around and get more control off road. I haven't found a need for a lift yet, with plenty of fun that was had already, but the 5100 / RXT combo would allow that very easily down the road.

Right now, with 53k on the stock Sport suspension, the front has lost good control on harsh bumps on road and I am getting too much jounce coming off obstacles off road.

Also, my sway bar took an abrupt exit about 50k ago and has been of no consequence. I have about 150lb to 200lb of weight in the rear, so I want to get the factory rake back considering that we may get a travel trailer down the road.

    Thanks, @memario1214 for the help!

What about Bilstein 6112 and new coils? I know the 5100s are very popular and that was my first plan, but I've read they are sort of generic and work on many vehicles and are also digressive (which I don't fully understand) and a progressive shock may ride better.

With the 6112 you certainly gain a larger, more robust shock body and the option to adjust to 5 height settings (instead of the 5100s 3). There's certainly more damping ability that comes with the 6112 if it's pushed at all as well. Both the 5100s and the 6112s have digressive damping which generally means firmer handling upon the initial hit of an obstacle.

I thought I read the 6112 was progressive but guess not. I've tried to find out how progressive/digressive differ. One article I read put it this way.

Based on that I assumed that progressive shocks would be better for my use or linear (but I didn't even know that was a thing). Of course, I don't know what they mean by bad at handling. If they mean general driving and cornering then maybe I don't want that.

I prefer the feel of progressive or linear, but you're generally looking at the higher end options to get it. All of them (Bilsteins included) will be an improvement over stock.

I finally reached out to headstrong about the stage 2 kit. I asked about the kit on the site and if it was stage 1 or 2. They said if it's what I'm looking for it's probably the right one. Pretty unhelpful as I wanted them to verify if it was what I was looking for (i.e. the stage 2 kit).
