I’m confused as to why they chose the SR5 to go with the trail edition? Wouldn’t it have made more sense to just lift an OR? Wouldn’t even have to add the locker.

Ok well whatever that wasn't the point of my post. I just assumed it will be sometime soon, with the Tundra coming and some sites saying it'll be 23 or 24. Regardless, the timing is right for me to get a new truck, so I'm hoping I can capitalize on the nice trade-in market without taking a big hit on the other side.

Everyone will be pissed in five years when the only model Tacoma is a 2.0 Turbo

Ford has the everyman's F150 Lightning BEV pick up. That only cost $90,000.

4th gen owners will be longing for the days of the large 3.5, and simplicity of the 6 speed auto. Oh and it was also available with a 6 speed manual.

They should just go to a unibody then the frame won't rust.

I thought the same thing - really doesn't make sense to go with the SR5 over the OR.

There are websites that say the 6th gen 4Runner has been “coming” for like 3 years now, lol

In February I just bought my '20 F150 for $41k, I have an offer from Vroom to buy it back right now for 45 and change. And I know it's a good offer because I have a buddy that did just that and made $3k on his '19 F150. There are dealerships selling high demand vehicles for thousands over the MSRP. Sometimes 10's of thousands. It's like the housing market right now. Every house here in the Northeast is selling for $40k over the asking price. Supply and demand...

Go to Vroom and Carvana and ask for an offer on whatever you are driving. If it's late model...you may be blown away by what you can get.

Lol true. I didn't really put much thought into it when I typed it, as it was more of a side-bar addition to my point. I just saw when I was reading/watching vids about the '22 Trail and Pro that a lot of people were basically saying that Toyota was just trying to keep people's interest with some of these packages of the 3rd gen to buy time until they announce the next gen. So in saying that, if I can grab a '22 for a reasonable price, that would be what I would prefer. I was not really interested in waiting for 1 of the first years of the new gen anyways, whenever they do come out. So I'd be happy to get a 3rd gen, even though there really is nothing too exciting about them at this point.

    No.

Unibody might bring the cost down. Toyota would have compete with Honda in that segment.

That platform isn't out yet far as I know.

Won't the 6th gen 4R be on the next Hilux platform?

The Frontier forums are crickets. I still will say that i'd buy another one in a heartbeat, the Frontier did everything right for me as a mall crawler.

It was nice just to trade it off and end up with a Cooper S, so i'm out of the pickup thing for awhile. If I do get another one it will be a 2nd gen Frontier or 2nd gen Tacoma. Just maybe a Ridgeline

There's a lot of things one could do with $90k. IMO pissing it away on a pickup truck is terrible. I'm will to bet for a lot of buyers this will exceed 50% of their income, but they'll do it anyways because they can finance it on extended terms

    Like a vulcan 312 on a F600 chassis. I think a 90k 200 series would be more practical than a 90k pick up.

I got a quote from Carvana for my 2021 SR 4x4 V6, four door, 3300 miles and they only offered $32k. This is for SF Bay Area.

EDIT: Vroom offered $37.5K for the truck

I was in my local Toyota dealership yesterday getting a tire replaced on my wife's 2019 Avalon. During the 3 hour wait for the mechanic to dismount one tire and mount another & balance it (plus go to the drug store for an extra large tube of anal lube) I talked to my salesman that I always use. He said that they are still selling all their new Tacomas for sticker price. Unfortunately, all stock and all incoming are sold, and no more allotments for 2021's.
