    There is a hollow steel tube that runs behind the dash. The HVAC assembly (black plastic/boxes) sits behind the below that pipe on the center console and passenger side. Does the steel pipe need to be removed before all those HVAC pieces can be removed?

    I never needed to but if the Cab reinforcement is in your way one does what you need to.

    Then I have already removed both doors and the seats to have room to work.

    I did a heater core replacement a few months ago and had to do just that. I dont think I removed it entirely, but I did removed the bolts from that crash bar and suspended it with bungee cords from the handles on the a pillar.

    Did you have to drain the AC system of the freon and/or oil before removing any of the plastic HVAC pieces?

    No. Since I was fixing the heater, I was lucky enough to work around the A/C and leave it fully intact.

    Per the manual, you shouldn't have to remove the IP Reinforce bar (tube), but it may make it easier.

    Yes, you have to have the system discharged.
