Manual Shifter Baffle holder

My shifter knob looked like hell and I wanted to do something more personalized. I got a proper sized nut for the shifter and used it to attach an old skateboard wheel. Nice size and weight, doesn't spin (no bearings in it), but the baffle is now loose and rattles as I shift. Anybody know of an item that would hold the baffle in place? Maybe attach to the shaft with a hole in it below the wheel?

someone sells a 3d printed part. I forget the name. Maybe @Tacospike @Shellshock or @tonered knows?

 

Zip Tie and duct tape if you want your shaft a little exposed.

This is the one I got. It moves around a bit more than I like, but it works well enough and lets me go back to the Pro knob, or, shudder, the stock one if I ever want to.

I got the boot retainer from TW member, he 3D printed it. Trailbreaker I believe it was?

One of my old OJ II Team Riders. Used another to replace a broken belt sander pulley like 20 years ago. Still going strong.

Same here. I found that the supplied O-ring still left the cap loose on the shaft, and it would rattle and slide down. A rubber spacer took care of the problem. You need some experimenting to find one that fits. (Maybe cutting a section of rubber hose?)

 

Everybody's experience will depend on the stiffness of the boot itself (which varies quite a bit depending on use). After many shifts over 175k miles (+sun damage), mine drops straight down and stays put.

You know, I don't recall the o-ring being in the package, but it probably was. I didn't use one, though, so that's probably why mine rattles even though I haven't had it on there that long.

 

It definitely was in the package I received. Without it I can see how it would rattle like crazy.

 

Mine just slid down and stayed there, been great so far. I’m thinking maybe doing what @philth did one day, I think it looks better.

 

Yeah, I'm a big dummy. I'm going to see if I still have the packaging or if I can find out what size o-ring to use.

 

When did you get the cap? Trailbreaker noted that he started including the O-ring in later batches, in response to requests.

Even with the O-ring, the fit is still loose on the shaft. When I added my additional tube spacer, I found the O-ring is still needed to prevent the spacer from sliding up out of the cap.

 

Back on May 24th, so I'm sure it was recent enough that it had the o-ring and my dumb self just didn't notice it nor use it.
