I live in Wilmington, North Carolina and regularly drive my 2018 TRD Offroad on the beach at Fort Fisher. The traffic on the sand is quite heavy this summer, resulting in washboard road conditions. I have stock suspension and tires (which I air down to 15psi). My wife has asked if I can make any modifications to my vehicle which would give us a smoother ride. I am looking for suggestions.

If you are not looking for a lift and want to keep the budget down, we can get you dialed in with some stock height replacement shocks. Ride quality offroad is really going to come from the valving inside the shocks. Lots of cheap options that may be good enough, just depends on your budget and expectations with that budget.

If you're focused on beach driving, I would think corrosion resistance would be job #1. Is there any brand that is superior in this department?

I've always read that ADS were known to be a leader in corrosion resistance, but then again, I've seen some scary amount of rust on ADS.

Elka has an aluminum body IIRC and are good with corrosion. Makes sense from a Canada based company.

I've not seen or heard that about ADS, yet there are not nearly as many ADS shocks on Tacomas than other shocks to compare. Aluminum bodies would definitely resist corrision, however you are still going to have steel components on the coilovers.

The main offroad surface for me and my family is the beach. We live on the beach and never stray far from it. I have used Icon coilovers and rears for many years. I have enjoyed the ride and never seen a spec of rust.

That being said, I'm gonna try something else this time. I'm not sure what yet, but I'm definitely following along for recommendations.

Dobinson shocks and springs have caught my eye as a zero maintenance and go performer. @Crikeymike can help you with choosing a Dobinson set up for beach driving.

    Thanks for the tag.

The Dobinsons twin tube struts are ideal for what you're looking to do. They're fully sealed, no maintenance ever required, and also will work with the stock coils and rear leaf packs with no issues, but also while improving on and offroad performance. You can also add lifted coils and leaf springs too if you're looking to add some lift and better ground clearance.

Two different bumps at Ft Fisher, rollers and washboard, I guess you can count the entrance road and the "turn" as a separate section too. On the actual beach my truck can go 30-40mph down most of the roller sections easily, you will unfortunately never love the washboard sections in a Tacoma without spending mega money on it. The entrance and turn area I can go pretty good too, but some of those bumps get to be huge, maybe 10mph in the big stuff.
