    When my son and I went through Cody a few weeks back we just drove out a little of town on public land and camped for the night. Wasn't anywhere spectacular but it was a place to sleep under the stars. Seamed to be a decent amount of places to set up. Can't remember the direction now off hand since it was dark when we got there.
