Agreed. IMO, Verizon will only gain those who like and iphone and are sick of At&T or were not willing to sign with AT&T...Android is the standard (even though I use webOS;)).

Our local news had a brief story about it...saying it's coming at the end of the month.

All I know is....almost everyone we know who owns an iphone, absolutely loves them and swears by them.

We'll wait until July(our 2 year contract runs out) and see what the hype is about. Hopefully, the iphone won't have any gremlins or issues and maybe be 'on sale' by then!!

We've been verizon customers for many many years.

you might as well wait until fall then...usually they release the new models of i-phones in the fall.

Engadget already had their hands on it...it's actually less locked up than the att version. They enabled a wireless hotspot option on the verizon version.

you can do that on AT&T too. Just costs more money, as it will probably cost more on verizon too.

ah. ive been jailbroken for so long i forgot that its only tethering via BT or USB.

more power to verizon if they dont lock it up. That was the reason I left them way back when, because of the locked phones.

the ATT tethering isn't included in the plan

    Fixed. Ok, just kidding....maybe.

Seriously, those I know with the iPhone compared to other manufactures complain a lot more about what they're allowed to use on the phone. It's as if Steve Jobs tells you what you can and cannot have on the iPhone.

Very disappointing that this will run on the CDMA network and not LTE.. Wondering why they even rushed this? THey should have waited and launched them both at the same time.

I hung around and waited for years for Verizon to get the iPhone being that I wouldn't have had AT&T service in my own house. Then I tried Android and am completely impressed. I honestly waited for this day when they finally announced it would be coming. Now I am not even excited. I definitely wouldn't even think about getting one until 4g comes out..

    From Apple COO Tim Cooke:

So, why no LTE on Verizon's first iPhone? Because adding support for the new 4G network would force changes in the iPhone 4 design, said Cook, and Verizon customers "want the iPhone 4 now."

I have a 32gb ipod touch (no camera edition) that has most of the features of an iphone and I have been with verizon since they bought out bell atlantic in new jersey. I have been contemplating getting an iphone and keeping an ipod in the truck but what boggles my mind is that when you go and re-new your plan and get a fancy phone you are forced to buy a data plan 3g/4g which I do not need. In past 12 years never once had I wished that I was able to access something so important that it could not wait until I got to a nearest wi-fi spot. After discussing this on various chat boards it looks like I might be able to buy an i-phone and just activate it with verizon.. but come to think of it.... why would I want to spend 500 some dollars on a piece of technology I already have. grrr... decisions decisions.
