Do you have a photo of your install you can share? Wondering how the shield looks like from a side view when standing a few feet from the truck. Appreciate.

Just finished installing one on my Gen2. I'm not lost, but when I did a search this thread popped up and I read your request for pictures. Here's a few of pictures taken from a few feet away and further. There's no visual evidence of it being there.

Thank you so much for these pics! I actually have a Gen2 also and have been having problems finding information/photos related to the Gen2 and end up in these other threads… This is very helpful.

So is there merit to painting the CAT with one of these or is it just a waste of effort?

A means to help identify your cat if stolen. They also suggest to engrave your VIN on it as well.

High temp paint plus this? Is there even a spot to stamp our VIN without damaging the CAT? 63676_I.jpg

If you want to WASTE your time painting the cat or putting your VIN on it, I'd recommend using an electric engraver rather than stamps.

Or just use some sort of shield (rebar or Cat Security or.... I have ZERO faith in the buyers of stolen cats to say "oh look! It's painted bright fuchsia, or has a VIN....perhaps I shouldn't buy it from Joe da Crackhead."

Or they'll just cut off the outside shield/casing that's painted/engraved...

Actually saw a listing on CL where the poster stated they were buying catalytic converters. Should have said; come one - come all crack heads and tweakers, sell your stolen loot here.

Just the other day we had a guy shot and killed by a local police officer. The first subject was caught in the process of stealing a converter when the other perp came up behind the cop and produced a gun.

Noob here. Got a 2021 DCLB Off-Road. Besides the Cat Security, would a full skid plate set also help deter theft? If so, are there any vendors you would recommend? Thanks!

Check here for a general idea how the trans skip plate would look and then compare it to the Cat Shield.

@SeoulMan82 my bad, it's actually called Cat Security. Here's a couple of pictures I took from the included directions from the one I ordered. May give you an idea what is looks like, before and after.

This is a great post. It was exactly what I was looking for. The plate looks like a solid choice without having to install a full set of skid plates. Thank you.

I just wished this used existing holes in the frame.

The three red circles are existing frame attachment points. They supply four revnuts for additional attachment points that I didn't use. I only used the three because I felt it was strong enough and would be enough of a deterrent that the would be thief would move on to easier prey. I put two nuts on each bolt, first the regular nut (good and tight) followed up with the nylon insert lock nut, again good and tight. It took some time to do, so I know it's going to take some time and a lot of effort to remove. Because of the front skid plate it took a good deal of contorting to do the front attachment point. The rear two were not too bad, but with the double nuts on each bolt I figured it going to create a huge hassle for anyone. After doing all this I opted out of drilling for the other attachment points.

I know, nothing is theft proof, but here's the way I look at it. Do I leave the front door to my house wide open or unlocked so some "ner'er-do-well" can walk in? No, I create a deterrent by locking the entry door knob and using the dead bolt. Then I keep my trusty "pistola" within reach just in case I need to properly greet them.
