I didn’t want to say it, but it would make quite the impression on ones temple.

Installed a Expedition Essentials onboard compressor mount. I’m cheap and saved money by using a Smittybilt compressor for it, used the savings for the Titan 15gal auxiliary tank mounted next to it.

Next will be a door cover to access the compressor switch and hose, and custom shelves and a refrigerator pull out.

Threaded rod? Do you mean the Maxtrax pins? If so, they’re pretty blunt-edged and are plastic on the outside. maybe a dab of paint would suffice, though….

Though I haven't put it in yet I bought what is essentially a clone of the pop n lock power tailgate lock... it was only $65... I think I had a coupon or ode that made it a little cheaper...

is there any down side to the pop n lock over the OEM Toyota one??

OEM is plug and play no splicing of wires. Comes with heat shield and a new grommet installed for under the passenger seat. Also has new double wire loom locks for the tail gate to replace the single that is there for the camera wire loom.

damn I might need to get that. I'm $8k deep into modifications and I still have no irreversible mods yet. I've been tempted to get that pop and lock thing but I didn't want to splice into the oem wireharness for the passenger door lock. thanks

I know KTJO is frowned upon here, but I’ve never had any issues with them. I used her tailgate power lock years ago and she included a wire harness that was plug and play. I believe she sells just the harness, but I can’t post a link because she’s a banned member. I’d google search it since you already have everything else.

It's worth the extra cash in my opinion. I, like you, have done nothing that can't be undone and put back to stock.
Edit: here is a link to a thread about the OEM lock. Post #13 has the installation instructions.

It’s easy and well-made (as expected). I chose OEM and glad I paid the few extra bucks.

Both are poor torture devices due to the length of the Tacoma's bed. You can't get a good stretch on anyone's spine.
