Is that kit necessary? I’m not too busy in electrical work so just wanted to know if I could use a paperclip or something of that sort to get them out and back in the new connector.

No it isn't necessary, but it does make the job a lot easier.

Had my dash apart last night and noticed this too. Has anyone done any sort of write up? Im not the best electrician, but I can follow directions pretty good. What is the optimal solution? Sounds like people are chopping off the harness and buttsplicing in a junkyard one? Would like to fix this before it craps out on me. The plug is just discolored at the moment, not burned

Maybe it's me getting old but typing like this is ridiculous to me. Also why the hell is he yelling? I'm not a grammar Nazi but when someone is so lazy they can type out "You" and put "U" just makes me loose more faith in humanity .
