I can see that now......it makes a lot more sense to me. I did do well in physics but "trail Physics" is something out of the area of my expertise. It didn't make sense from a physics point of view but I like how you explained from a real world point of view. Well, I order 4 new tires yesterday, and I went with E Rated this time. Oh, and I did not nor will not ever have BFG's on my truck ever again. It really took the wind out of my sails. And this time when I ordered from Discount Tire, I not only got a great deal but I got the replacement certificates this time as well. (I ordered my BFG's 9 months ago and never got the certificates. Lesson learned.)

Certificates? I'm actually not sure what this means. Of course I just put KO2s on a few months ago

Hmmm, I’m going to research a little, but may be interested. Will they work with a tonneau cover?

I was not a fan of the BFG K02s I had. Did ok in dirt. But on the road they were impossible to keep from vibrating like crazy after 20k miles. I replaced them with Cooper STT Max’s that look more aggressive and even with 45k on them rode great. I’ve read a lot of comments that the K02s are not the legends that the K01s were.

OK, so when you buy tires from Discount tire direct, they offer tire certificates for the tires for an extra $31 a tire. I believe that they are the only company that might do this. If you do purchase them at the time you buy your tires, it works like an insurance for your tires. They cover "Anything" that might happen to your tires for a period of 3 years from the date of purchase and the tire need to have at least 3/32" of tread left. I knew a couple of people that have purchased the certificates from Discount tire in the past and they gave discount tire a call and was sent out a brand new tire shipped that day, and if they don't have what you need in stock, they will fully reimburse you if you go to another place and get one swapped out immediately. I would have 3 brand new tires if I purchased them but BFG's have always been so good to me in the past. Don't get me wrong, I still have love for the BFG's but taking them off road the way I do, I don't trust them anymore in that aspect. Taking them on dirt trails or light off roading is fine (green or small blue trails) but if you take them on anything Yellow of above (red or black) I would not trust them again.

It is kind of weird because I have never had an issue with vibration, tire wear, or even snow in my BFG KO2's literally up until this point. If it happen to 1 of my tires, I can say that it might have been a fluke thing and a very challenging obstacle but to have the same thing happen to 3 out of my 4 tires and no one else have it happen to their's......nope soured the milk for me.

So if you aren't going with BFG's what are the new meats going to be?

I hear all this bad about KO2 :( I wanted to get them for my E load needs, might just skip it. Not just here - it's been a lot of other stuff too. I am hperfectly happy with my stockies, does what I'm willing to do with my daily driver. But if i hit the highway to Tuk with this truck I'll need E's for that.

They should - they're not the LED ones, maybe a DRL connection? That I don't know. But the lights themselves should be in and out easy.

What I REALLLLLLLY wanted was 285 Falken Wildpeaks but with the gearing in my truck, 63lbs a tire was just going to be too much for me and what I do with them. I am going with what I originally wanted when I was looking for tire last year but they were out of stock nation wide which are the 285/70R17 Toyo Open Country AT3's in an E-rated. Those are only 55 lbs a tire and my truck, being a daily driver but use for off roading, will respond to them better. I have heard some issues with the old Open Country AT2's but I have heard nothing but praise about the new AT3's. I will give them a fair shake and give them an honest review.

I just put the at3's on the wife's 4runner and maybe its the lt rating but I get a lot of roll side to side on them and a fair amount of road noise, I went with the wildpeaks on the taco and they are super nice! I will say though I'm not sure if its just because they are different vehicles or cab vs suv but a noticeable difference in sound and driving feel between them I ran the toyo's on my 2nd gen and the 16" version I got 80k out of flawlessly, the 17" I switched to after were junk out of the gate super noisy and terrible in the rain/snow, the 17's were lt rated though.

Did you have the AT3's or the AT2's in the rain and snow? The only reason why I am saying that is because the open country AT3's just came out At the beginning of March of 2020. I am used to the noise of the BFG and the AT3's are about the same of what I am used to. In an LT tire, you will get a little more roll because the side walls are not as stiff.

In their current configuration they won't work with one. I can't seem to find any tonneau brackets on the mule website

You guys that had problems with the KO2s. Did they notice this when balancing the tires? I have them on my truck and I’m getting vibrations now and had them balanced. They said they were fine but the truck still vibrates.

Mine always balanced fine, and still had vibes. I just bought 5 General Grabber ATX which if you look at the tread is almost identical, balanced 4 times in a little over a month and same shit. I replaced them with something a whole lot better.

AT2’s are what I had and I kind of expected more roll with the lt vs e rated, but I honestly think a lot of it is just the extra weight of the suv body, ie: our trucks loaded with rtt’s and fuel etc.
