Funny, I'd be willing to bet 95% of lifts and 33s on TW are 100% for aesthetics.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Say what you want, I have the data to back up my claim. I'll agree that driving habits contribute, but with the '06 over 15 years the data clearly shows an improvement after 40K miles with no changes in the Taco or my driving.
As far as my '21 is concerns, I do believe that driving habit adjustments contribute but I can't quantify how much is attributable to driving and how much is attributable to the truck's learning curve.

I went from a 09 regular cab to an 18 OR manual. It was bought brand new with 40 miles on the odometer and now has over 65k. The only regret I have is waiting so long to upgrade.

Mostly 340,000 miles of wear on the '96. A sharp looking Gasshole for the '21
I love that color, I may do a complete body work project on the '96 and make him Taliban/Quicksand/Desert Storm.

Lol that sure is a lot of commercials within a commercial. And what kind of built vehicle is that with a pretend TRD pro emblem, it sure ain’t a real slow-mo Tacoma

If I had to do it over, I'd get a 2015 or 2019 4 cylinder 6 speed manual. I can't stand the TSS on the >20's. The Auto trans bugs me, and the V6 looks like a DIY nightmare.

I still love the truck, but going from an 85 base model 4x4 to a computerized V6/auto rig was too much of a jump(for me). Plus my 85 was many times better off-road.

No regrets. Given the same situation and what I know now I would do it again. Though now my situation is changing and may look into a new Tundra but will likely still keep the Taco

Coming from owning Subaru then a Jeep Liberty CRD long term not really any major regrets. I would like to get better mpg. I am not paying more for diesel fuel now and the truck actually gets about the same mpg as the jeep did around town. I Do take more of a hit when towing than I did with the diesel but I don't tow all the time so it's not a big deal.
I picked a double cab the be able to haul occasionally more passengers than 1 but sometimes wish I had the access cab for the extra bed length. It's really a give and take on that.
It seems like it's going to be very dependable so not buy sooner might be a regret.

I don't like any car payments but i got them down to 197 bi weekly on a 48 month loan and will probably be paid off sooner so not so Bad, especially since it's a 36,000 to now fourty some thousand dollar truck bought new which I never was able or willing to do before. It's worth it so far

Yup, a buddy that did a 3'' lift with 33's on drove his around shopping centers for looks, never once drove it off-road, was even upset one day when we went fishing. While driving to my house on the dirt road i live off, the road can get pretty nasty. He was pissed after getting here...just washed, and waxed his truck the day before. He got even more pissed when i couldn't stop laughing.

I was shocked by the MPG, however 100% gas is sold in my region of TN. I drive 300 miles to GA on 100% gas 23.9 MPH, I fill up with corn gas and drive 300 miles back to TN 20.9 MPG. My dear wife (a blonde) says it's because GA is downhill from TN. I think corn gas is one of the the MPG culprits.

There's something to be said for an older, simple truck. I had a 1st gen 4runner for many years, I should have just kept it around and bought a nice newer car to daily. I'd run proper trails with nothing more than a set of 31" ATs, I'd often top up on fuel after a day of wheeling and see 25mpg out of it. In 2009 I replaced it with a nice, newer Tacoma and later in 2015 I replaced that with a nice newer Frontier.

The main reason I keep a 4x4 around is for the capability, they get me into the remote areas I like to visit. The Tacoma and Frontier have been limited to rough gravel roads at best, even mild obstacles require a spotter and careful driving. Not exactly my idea of fun. I have a few friends with "built" newer trucks (Tacoma, 4runner, Frontier, Xterra, Wrangler). They all seem to get around 13-15mpg and are still pretty much limited to rough gravel roads despite all the gadgets and stuff.
