No. You can look up a generic max torque per fastener size as well. Personally snug is good for these things cause sometimes books are misprinted

I’m sure it depends too on the materials involved for both the bolt and what it’s threading into. As well as if there’s an o-ring, crush washer, etc.

I don't see any mention of a dipstick feature on the YouCovers A750F pan.

I was looking at that pan, and was thinking to do two things to it. A) paint it to protect the cast aluminum from corrosion, (they offer a painted version at $70 extra!) B) Epoxy in some magnets or epoxy in a steel plate to add magnets to in the bottom.

My bad. I didn't look closely enough at the pan.

I seem to remember hearing from them a couple of years ago, when they were thinking about and designing this pan. I could have sworn they added a dipstick at the time.

I am planning on flushing the tranny this week and wanted to ask opinions on this post. Is there a consensus or factual experience if this is needed: "reset the learned memory after the fluid change"

"Don't have to open the thermal valve on Tacomas. However if the idle is fluctuating because the jumper wire is still in, the fluid will warm up too fast & you'll end up draining out too much. End result is its under filled. I work at a dealer & have done hundreds of the fluid checks/adjustments. I've seen only 4 in the last 10 years that's actually properly filled. They're all usually low by 1/2 quart or more. It's a good idea to reset the learned memory after the fluid change to relearn the shifting time. Over time the ecu learns to shift slower because the fluid doesn't have the same viscosity. When you put in new fluid, it still shifts slow, & may slip & burn the friction material in the clutch packs."

My 2013 has the factory transmission cooler.

    Thanks guys!

I pull the jumper wire (I actually have an adapter, not a wire) once it's in temp check mode. The idle does even out a little compared to leaving it in. Does that actually effect anything? I don't know.

I can tell you this....3 years ago I did a level check before doing any DAFs just to see where it was at and to familiarize myself with the procedure. The level was spot on. Sometimes I think this whole "the fluid level is always low from the factory" stuff gets a little overblown on the Internet

I drained and filled my transmission a month ago and 4.5 quarts came out...
I also installed a transmission cooler and filled it just to prime it..I can say my trans temp has significantly decreased by 30-40 deg. Now on hot days the outside temp has alot to do with cooling.
I'm towing a 3500 lbs camper and in August I expect temperature to be higher as summer goes.
I added a mishimoto fan to help with keeping transmission temps down when the towing goes uphills and when truck is not moving at traffic.
When truck moves it begins cooling the transmission when it's slowing or not moving the temp goes up alot..the fan definitely is a added help..
Filling the transmission was a pia I used a long hose to fill. I used a funnel . I got the hose to go up to where the windshield washer fluid tank is and had gravity do the job it worked out good . Try not to make a mess.
I also used a measurement pitcher and made sure it was accurate what I took out and what I'm putting in..

I bet it only applies to trucks that get the towing package add/on since that adds capacity to the fluid loop. Maybe the person on the assembly line whose job it is to fill the fluids doesn't always pay attention to this fact.

Mine had the tranny cooler added at the port and it was over a quart low. It shifted really hard going up hills. I assumed it was properly filled... shifts S O MUCH better when full of fresh fluid to the proper level.

I recently purchased a 2021 Tacoma. Decided I should inspect the transmission to see whether it was low from the factory. I decided I should pull the overflow plug when the transmission was cold and had sat overnight, just to get a baseline of what the level was cold, and when I pulled the overflow plug in the AM 1.5 quarts came out of the overflow plug. I pumped 1.5 quarts back into the transmission, and didn’t bother do anything else because I assumed if 1.5 quarts came out of the overflow plug after it had sat overnight then I wasn’t low on transmission fluid. Am I right in assuming the level is above the filled mark and I don’t have to worry about my transmission being low on fluid?

This is a second gen thread so follow the third gen procedure posted above, but you have to do the check with the engine running or else you will dump a bunch of fluid just as you did.
