Did you know that Toyota never paired the elocker with the 2.7L/auto combo in 1st gens.

So prerunner TRDs with 4 banger and the auto do not have an elocker even though they are TRDs

20 years of sun, heat and cold will take a toll on paint and plastic, but the bones don't care about that stuff.

For those of you still in Wyoming. What parts of Wyoming are you in? Do you like it? During our trip we were looking for somewhere to possible call home. Any recommendations on cities to consider?

Good luck first of all. Prices have sky rocketed and there just isn't any homes left.

    Top choices though:

    Powell
    Lander

    Then

    Cody
    Sheridan

Both a bit more touristy, Sheridan is cool but also a bit "isolated" from most anything else. Big Horns are right there though. But I think living in the basin is cooler as your close to 5-6 mountain ranges so then you can take your pick.

    Might be worth checking:

    Worland
    Buffalo
    Greybull

These aren't bad but in the south corner, so cool cause close to CO but lot of nothing in between stuff. Not that that stuff isn't also cool just not a lot of folks cup of tea.
    Laramie
    Douglas
    Cheyenne

After that, it's either way way to expensive(Jackson/pinedale/saratoga) or really remote middle of nowhere, which might be what you want or not.

@Blackdawg's list is a good start. I would just add that knowing the layout of the state will help. Like the eastern and southern sides of the state tend to get a lot more wind. (look how often I-80 closes as an example). Also tends to get a bit more of the "odd weather". Like random snow storms and rain. The Northwestern side of the state is a bit more protected so doesnt get that as often. Still can get windy but we have had days of no wind while its windy enough to close I-80.

Cody is a tourist town in the summer so be prepared for that if you want to live there. Tons of car traffic and RV's.

Wife and i live in Worland and enjoy it. Less of a tourist town and more of a working town. But kind of centrally located too. Big Horn Mountains are an hour away. Cody is 1.5 away. thermopolis (hot springs) is 30 minutes. Plus theres a ton of BLM literally right outside of town you can explore. Bit further drive but places like Jackson is ~4 hour drive, Pryor Mountains are ~2 hours, Red Lodge is 2.5 hours.

Housing has definitely gone up in price. Been a lot of people moving into the area (like everywhere though). But its still pretty affordable compared to most places. The big thing is if you want acreage. Finding housing with land is tricky and often expensive. Lots of farming and ranching so usable land goes for that

Monte.... why did you leave out Gillette?

In all seriousness, I'd add Casper to your last list. Not the worst town to end up in Wyo.

I'll be making the trek through the worst parts of Wyo tonight to get to our cabin in Custer for the weekend. Looking forward to seeing all of the scenic places in state like... Yoder, Lingle, Jay Em, Lusk... the Hwy 85 dream team, if you will.

Back from New Mexico, where at 101-106*, we were happy to be cooler than it was at home. Ha, go figure! Betcha a few of you wish you'd come along ;).

Beautiful country down there, and the trip down took us through Utah and Cedar Mesa where we stopped for some petroglyphs. Then on the way back we made a quick run through Silverton->Hurricane Pass->California Pass->Engineer Pass->Mineral Creek->Ouray. Was on-and-off thunderstorms through the San Juans, but still beautiful and nice to show to @mrs.turbodb.

Oh, and stopped by Alcan for a little present on our way north!

Nice back to the alpine loop already ha

    Wut...

uh...yes. Yes they did. I can think of 3 prerunner converted 4wd that are/were v6s. No motor swap.

Well, the Events Center is there so actually its the only place practically to see major shows/events on tour in the whole state other than the odd ball ones here and there.
