OK...if the LAPD comes out and says it was all a planned gender reveal, I will forgive them entirely because that would be fucking funny as hell lol

After reading the article, and seeing the pictures...did they only measure 300 ft above the vehicle?

There are vehicles right next to the damn thing

Considering that there were improvised explosives, it could be assumed that PE4 or an equivalent was used; that's the shit you make bombs with.

Yeah...at the very least, you'd think at least one guy on scene might've thought to say "hey...maybe we should have people move their cars and evacuate the area before we set this thing off"

Depending on the explosives, primers can still be set off even if they've been completely submerged in water.

It's why you're supposed to break down munitions if disposing of any ammo.

Some people have even tested primers (and they went off), after they had been soaked in brake cleaner.

Brake cleaner proved to render them safe for awhile, but some reported still being able to set them off later on.

Really hope the people that were both injured, and had personal property damaged, sue the responsible agency.

Oh without a doubt that will happen. It being LA I'm sure people 10 miles away will sue because they were woken up by the boom sound

I would love to tint my windows again, but I got popped for it about 7 years ago on my last car. Wasn't even a dark tint, barely a shade darker than stock. Made an illegal U-turn right in front of a bike cop (which was my own stupid fault lol) and he threw a tint violation on for good measure.

Had to go into traffic court all day just to spend 2 seconds showing the judge the paperwork from when I got a shop to remove it.

No idea if it's still the case, but I guess back then the only window tint you could have in CA (or maybe LA, I dunno) is if it was factory installed and sold that way. Or so I was told.

50 ton press is 1k from harbor freight.. too rich for my blood, looks like I'm going to attempt to job with my 20 ton press at work

Not that I've tried, but I thought I've read on here that a 20T should suffice for the wheel bearings?

it's really hit or miss with that. I see plenty of illegal tint around the Denver area and in nice areas like Vail and never hear about people being hassled for it. In fact someone drove through my neighborhood with a dark (20%ish windshield) the other day. In some of the smaller towns I imagine cops with less to do would be more interested so I'm keeping it on the light side...

My front windows were a shade lighter than the stock rears when I bought the truck. I'm having the smoked glass tinted since it doesn't block UV/IR like the tint does.

if it's not you'll find out that it's probably strong enough to bend the press apron lol

Yeah that was pretty much what the shop told me when I had it installed. No one could tell me 100% if it was legal or not, but I guess they are trying to do business so maybe they aren't the best source lol.

I did have it on there for maybe 4 years with no trouble, but got popped for that u-turn which of course means all bets are off for anything else that might be a violation.

Did you use torch heat at all when you attempted your press work?

I think maybe if I soak the old bearings in ATF overnight and then put flame to housing I might get away with it
