Hey! I have had these KOs on my truck for 60,000 miles at least. When I got the truck at 32,000 miles it had them on there and the dealership had no idea when they were put on. So with that in mind, knowing the tread is still okay, and looking a these pictures- would you replace them? There's a quarter sized chunk that is coming off on the side of the tread that I have pictured (although it's not the best picture, sorry) TIA

A note- the handling is okay but in wet conditions, it's sketchy. I just went on a 10 day road trip, 2400 miles, and it felt fine. Although, I feel every single bump crack small rock in the road which may or may not be related to the tires (??). :)

I would definitely replace those, but maybe I am more cautious than others

I would replace those based on tread depth, let alone the cracking.

60,000+ is more than most get out of AT tires, I would say you got your money's worth and its time to move on to the next set

BFG phased out those KO1s back in 2014 I think? So, they're probably 7 years old at best. Judging by the looks of it, I sure as hell wouldn't have tried the 2400 mile trip you just took on them. Those are done for, in my opinion.

Replace them. Yesterday. I have a used set of KO2's that are newer than this with better & deeper tread and they are dangerous when it gets wet. I can't imagine how bad yours are. These look like they are already failing.

Ask yourself how much your life is worth. Ride these out for some more mileage and maybe save a perceived $100? What's it cost if you crash because a tire fails? Plus there's almost no better feeling than a new set of rubber, it's like getting a new truck again.

I was also concerned about the trip but I was reassured by mechanics that it would be fine but I should start thinking about replacing them so that's where I'm at now

Date code should look something like this

    16251673428551467069316440431876.jpg

First 2 digits are the week of production, last 2 digits are the year

The average tire is greatly reduced in 3 yrs and done for in 5 years in terms of grip from the compound used.

Grip is only related to tread depth and pattern based on specific surface conditions, but grip from compound matters in all conditions.

I'm betting those are at least 7-8 years old. Exactly how long they last varies. In a northern climate, or if kept garaged and out of direct sunlight 10+ years is possible. In sunny southern states like Arizona or Florida the sun ruins them fast.

I'm in a pretty hot part of Northern California and for a few years after I got it, I lived in a hotter part of California (110 days regularly) and it's never been parked out of the sun ://
