I have no problem saying if I'm wrong.

No doubt, but him insisting you apologize if you're wrong and him saying "no biggie" if he is wrong is just silly.

    Also, you're not wrong.

    Well......its patently obvious.

    Mine is bigger than yours because....1. I have a skewp and 2. I change every 5K and 3. I use 10w30 or 10w40

So, mine is MUCH bigger and longer

Did I match the dumb level?????

I posted this in another oil thread on here a few weeks ago, but we were having a discussion about maintenance at work and one of my coworkers who has a new F150 hasn't changed the oil in it since new at 25k. He doesn't think its important and only keeps his cars for a few years and then trades them in

I've been buying Toyota filters from the dealer parts counter just because it ends up being cheaper with no shipping cost. Amazon/eBay can be iffy with counterfeits. Make sure the actual seller is either Amazon or a dealer.

A premium filter with synthetic media like the Wix 57047XP may perform better (finer filtration, more dirt holding capacity) but the synthetic media cannot support its own shape, so there's a wire mesh inside preventing collapse. Before install, you need to very carefully inspect the mesh for loose ends or chips that can detach and get sucked into the engine's oiling system. :) This is true for both cartridge filters and canister filters.
Don't have to look far - there's a guy on here who got a $1000/mo. vehicle allowance as a work perk, so he leases V8 Land Cruisers and does zero maintenance during the lease.

I noticed Mobil 1 was on sale at Costco yesterday. I think Mobil 1 is doing a rebate right now too.

Link? I'm curious to hear what happened. I had an ex girlfriend in college who didn't change the oil on her 3 series for almost 25k miles - engine surprisingly ran more or less fine. A bit rough and the oil was pretty thick but it still ran. Haha she didn't even know that oil was supposed to be changed until I asked her about getting a tune up

Just did this last Friday on my sport. 5 minutes and 4 bolts the skid plate was off. Didn’t take time to look for oil deals but got the filter included free and went with the k&n. Plastic drain plug and two new o rings included. Done in about 20 minutes.

Was going to take advantage of the free 2 years of service but the local dealer was booked out two weeks and no quick lube lane. No thanks.

    Trucks happy I’m happy!

The lease was over and she gave it back, said there were no issues at all. She made a lot of people angry at TW, haha.

    Her name is farmtacoma.

If Toyota tells me every 6mos or 10k, thats fine by me. Ive followed the recommendations for the last 5 Tacomas Ive owned and thats worked out fine.

That's what I did also. I've been a huge fan of WIX for decades, but everything I read up on, says that the factory Toyota filters are 'top shelf' stuff, so I just decided to stick with OEM.

Well, did my first oil change to my 2019 TRD DCAT sport. Bought the truck with 14,000. Is at 18,000 now. Used K&N filter, installed Fumoto drain plug, and a Yoursme oil filter drain hose tool. Since mine is a sport the front bolts on the skid plate were a pain. Whoever put the oil filter canister on must have used an impact driver. Not cool. But all is done and no leaks. Thanks to all who responded. Lots of good info.
Looking forward to learning lots from you guys.

So glad my oil filter is on top.

Now, if them dumb engineers could figure out a way to put the drain plug on top, then I wouldn't need to get under the truck.
