Mark Twain has plenty of roads to explore. It's a bit different out here because of the difference in terrain, though. Ouchita NF and Ozark NF also have service roads and plenty of wilderness to hike and bike. Get ready for actual water crossings regardless of which forest you're in.

Dispersed camping follows the same rules as CO, but always check with the ranger station just in case. No real fire bans out here either, so that's a plus. If it's camping you're after, it's definitely available.

One thing you'll run into out here is that people generally don't share their offroad routes or camping site locations as openly as people out West. I'm in that group of people because I've seen what has been going on out in CO and the West coast over the last decade.

Don't forget that we still get snow and definitely expect ice during Winters.

IF You were to sell it, what would you replace it with?

And yes, there are plenty of fire roads and forest access roads and light duty trails out here. There are tons of areas for camping and even with our groups collective knowledge, there are plenty of areas and none of us have been to.

All of this. Especially for winter, you really not going to beat the Taco for snow driving. (Unless you have a Subaru)

Sort of. Nothing like Colorado. Fire roads here are just dirt roads. There are some low creek crossings.
Depends on where you are in the states. The south west has the best stuff.

Hey y'all. Just bought a 2021 Tacoma Trd Sport 4x4 double cab and live in St. Louis County. I'm thinking about selling the stock toyo tires and wheels that come on the truck. Would anyone on here be interested or know someone who would be? Asking $800. They have 400 miles on them.

Your factory TPMS sensors are built into the removable valve stems mounted in those wheels. Before you sell them take the wheels to a tire shop to have them removed and replaced with standard valve stems so you can put your factory set on the new wheels in the valve stem position or banded to the inside.

    Welcome!

Stick in the mud time.... TW rules state you must have 50 posts before listing buy/sell/trade items. Just something they do to weed out spambots.

Would hate for the mods to be uhm.... Aggressively moderating, and you get caught in the crossfire.

Anyways.... Your truck isn't official until we see some pics! Welcome to TW, and chain your wallet down, or we'll spend all of your money for you ;)

Edit: what tires/wheels are you replacing them with?

I wasn't gonna poo poo your deal either b/c this thread ain't my home turf, but since he said stuff... rules is rules.

I will say that Craigslist and FB marketplace have been barren of Taco stuff except for people wanting $2k for stock takeoff shocks and springs. You might also have luck those places if your stuff is priced to sell, I usually have success with CL.

Haha I appreciate all the advice! Had no clue... I had an 09 SR5 back in the day but after 6+ years with a company vehicle i'm finally back on the dark side. As far as wheels and tires, I'm planning on throwing on some Icon Compressions and Falken Wild Peak AT3/W's. Probably 275/70/r17

Can't decide if I want to run them on the stock wheels or just go all in and get wheels & tires at once.... Not quite sure. Thoughts?

If you plan to up size on tires, get better wheels. OEM ones are stupid on offset. Mine were +30 and made skinny 33s nearly touch with 1.5" spacers.

Oh for sure, I don't blame them. We had a few really nice spots we loved to camp at in Pike San isabel NF that got trashed over the last couple of years. They were perfect; awesome views of the north side of Pikes peak, just barely enough cell service that I could stay on call. Last time we went up, most of the trees had been shot down, brass all over the ground, beer cans everywhere, trash everywhere, a couple of mattresses. It really sucks people don't respect the land.

I would probably go back to a full size truck and some kind of project 4x4 for off road/camping. We bought the taco just to run up in the mountains for camping on the weekends, mainly for reliability because I'm on call 24/7 so I didn't want to chance breaking down out in the middle of nowhere. Not to mention the danger of breaking down in the mountains is a bit higher. Also my Sierra was too long and wide for most of the places we like to go.
I lived in South city most of my life so I know how the winters can get, honestly I think MO winters are worse than the here on the front range haha.

Good to know! I'll be between Jeff city and Arkansas for work, so we can pretty much live anywhere west of 44, south of 70, east of Kansas and North of Arkansas.

I'm more familiar with the White River and Arapaho/Roosevelt area, but just the increased traffic of SxS riders in the last 5 years or so has been enough for us to justify a break from CO this year. I proposed to my fiancé on Bard Creek trail out there, so it says a lot that we aren't planning a trip.

White river is cool, camped there for a couple days last year, pretty cool to see the fog rise above the water in the morning

Congratulations! I do plan on coming back this winter for a short trip and doing the same, probably in a rental cabin though haha. Just increased traffic in general is part of why we decided to take the transfer. Denver is like 60miles from where I live and it takes on average 2-3 hours to get there, shits turning in to L.A. and quick.
