    Hey yall,

I need some help figuring out how my Snugtop Super Sport truck cap locks. I bought it recently used and the only thing remaining of the locking mechanism is a seized up "pop out lock" and one strike loop on the passenger side of the cap itself. Unfortunately, the kid who sold it to me had no idea either. There is no evidence of latches or if this cap used cables or lock rods to lock. Its very difficult finding out from snugtop how this cap locked. If anyone has a pop out lock could you show me pictures of how this secures?

    Much appreciated!

Also: the cap is from 2010-2012...not sure if the locking mechanism has changed over the years.

    More info needed.
I just bought a Snugtop Rebel. It also has the pop-out locking mechanism.
I'm slow moving this morning, and on my first cup of coffee. Can you post a picture of your handle on the exterior and interior?

Don't you just love the lack of consumer relations, post-purchase of the product, and/or acquiring replacement parts.
Seems the norm with most manufacturers, which is BS.

    Edit to add--
I did a search. -->Rotary Latch Locking Mechanism<--. Browse through this link.

I’m guessing it had to of had latches at one point given the mounting bracket on the back window

Depending on what you ordered, it sounds as if you are on the right track.

I guess what I’m asking is: are the rotary latches meant for steel locking rods or cables?

It’s hard to even find a picture of the locking set up. I’m sure I can jury rig something if I had a picture to go off of.

IMG_7034.jpg IMG_7035.jpg IMG_7036.jpg This is off my 2007-ish Supersport. The whole rear glass and all the hardware was replaced last year due to the glass shattering. I have the old bottom plate/hardware lying around here somewhere but I am pretty sure it all looks the same. And yeah, you need another strike loop. Let me know if you need any other pics.

Awesome, thanks @skimballc. Pictures like those were so hard to find. Hoping what I bought can work. Looks like Ill have to pick up some hardware... and possibly that spring on the center lock? Guessing that just helps the lock return to an unlocked position.

Maybe you don't need rotary latches. https://mysnug.com/all-parts/lock-rod-set-with-red-button
"Lock Rod Set for Snugtop Camper Shells. Only fits Snugtop pop out locks. Rods are 5/16" in diameter. Ends must be cut to fit. Will not work with door that has rotary latches on ends."

EDIT- I missed that it looks like you did have rotary latches on there.

Hey guys. I’m reassembling a rotary latch for my snugtop rebel that is the same as the one on this thread and am in search of the part circled in the images I’ve attached.

Does anyone know what this part would be called? Do I need to buy an entire replacement latch to get this part? Any creative hardware I could use to replace this part?

It’s the cube that the rod slides through to activate the latch when the lock is turned.

@JohnnyMak I couldnt seem to find much on individual parts like that. I had to buy the full rotary latch and Im still looking for lock rods that fit. Id bring it to a local shop and see what they can do for you.
