Not far from Kaycee - can go to LeDoux Days every year. There are far worse places in Wyoming than Casper. **Rawlins and Wamsutter enter the conversation**

It happened to be on the way, and we needed to "waste a day" waiting for the springs to be ready at Alcan, so how could I resist, hahaha. The weather and mid-week meant that we had it basically to ourselves, but holy crap there were a ton of people hanging out in their UTV-surrounded RVs in Silverton.

Mineral Springs was a fun trail (the only one we didn't do last summer). And boy, there's a ton up in there that I'd like to go back and see - explore some of the mine ruins, etc. I just worry about how busy it is under normal conditions.

yes we established that. Also I never said only V6s. I said they came with them. As I was countering Mikes line of thinking that they were all 4 bangers :p

    Yeah hard to pass up.

It was nice when we were there. The first time it was pretty darn busy. But I know it can be super super busy. Probably half chance.

Trail i ran last weekend was all UTVs. Seem to get more popular all the time..

    nice! Thats a beaut!

Getting closer to my neck of the woods. In fact, we’re planning a Northern New Mexico Southern Colorado trip for next week. Finally going to be able to check off the most popular Colorado trails, I hope.

Thank you guys. Minus Powell and Landed those were pretty much out preferred towns as well. Only say minus because we didn't visit them. I also really enjoyed Pinedale. Jackson hole had way to many fucking people. Alpine wasn't too bad either.

Funny you say that. When we drove through there we stopped to eat and asked the locals what they thought of Gillette. They're response was "is a fucking shit hole and I hate this town".

Powell is nice. Bit centralized in the basin. College there brings some fun activities there. Town is nice quite but fun stuff going on. I grew up there. It's a good town. Weather is perfect most of the time.

Lander is cool. Lots of stuff there if you're an outdoors person. But think it's hard to get a house there much less land. @BossFoss Lives in that area.

Both would be my top choices.

Pinedale is cool but can be pricey too due to its location and proximity to Jackson.

Jackson isn't Wyoming. Although @IDtrucks has been slumming it there for a few years and @Pltmnky lives there too. Mostly rich people and tons of tourist's in the summer.

Only reason to live in Gillette is if you're a miner. Which was a big reason to back in the day. But yeah I'd never live there.

Alpine is beautiful area. Part of star valley. Hard winters there. But that comes with most places in Wyoming especially compared to Arizona ha I haven't looked but I'd imagine property there is at a premium too. But be pretty nice if your okay with the remoteness and multi small town vibe.

There are houses and land available still, pricey, but available. Really kind of depends on your definition of pricey though I suppose. Alot of people coming from higher wealth areas who see it as cheap so. It's been nice the last year especially, the little bit of traveling I did do the last year, people have lost their minds over the covid stuff. Lander saw some stuff but people were still people and not yelling and dictating to others how to be which was nice.

I'm curious about the "yelling and dictating" comment. I don't mean to start any sort of war, just asking out of curiosity. Is it people who are trying to get others to wear masks (PNW is a bit like this), or people yelling at others to take masks off (my last trip through SE Utah was a bit like this). Just curious which way you're seeing it there in WYO.

Edit: re-reading, I think I may have misunderstood. I now think what you saw was when you were travelling...so maybe not even in WY.

Outside wyo, a trip to Denver for a Dr. Appointment Just noticed people were way more vocal about it. It was just strange. I Feel like the vibe of Lander was mutual respect of your choice. If you felt you needed it for your health then cool, and if not, nobody was harping on you to tow some arbitrary line in the sand.

Edit: I know it's a heated issue and not trying to start arguments either. I'm just glad I live where I live and the people coming here are coming for alot of those reasons.
