The SKINNY on skinny tires

33.5 is the unmounted diameter, i never measured my toyo's on my rig but 32.something sounds right with proper street pressure.

i think the nitto ridge grappler 255's are 33.3, the new toyo at3 and their RT's 255's are 33.1 diameter (unmounted)

i'm running the falken wild peak at3 which is also 33.1

so regardless of the 34 inch claim the bf's are almost 1/2 inch taller than the others in this area! i say grab them if you can and like the price!

 

These are ok but I’ve read run pretty small and they’re wicked expensive. I’d go with Kenda Klever 33x10.5 for what you’re looking for.

 

mickey thompson also makes the new 255/85r17 that has a diameter of 34.6 unmounted.

there is always the 285/75r17, true 34's sometimes but wider, and needs a lot of work to fit

 

Agreed. Only reason I went with them is because I got a killer deal at $200 per tire. If I had to do it again, I'd probably go with another tire

 

Thats basically half of what they cost now, last time I checked was in the neighborhood of $360

 

Walmart had them marked at $200 by mistake, but America's Tire still honored the price match!

Not good tires? I see Amazon lists tire weight as 37lbs for a 33x10.5 and 41 for a 35x10.5 - Surely that can't be right.

 

The destinations look like a pretty mild all terrain, should be a great road trip tire. The weight and diameter are similar to your stock tires, so mpg shouldn't be affected noticeably. You might notice a stiffer ride, but imo it's worth it for the peace of mind off road. I say go for it

Plus your stock spare will be compatible with them, which is nice

 

If that is for the Klever's (you didn't specify) they are much heavier, both around 60 I believe.

 

Tires are great, they are just a bit smaller than I was hoping for. And they are around 57 lbs for the BFG 34x10.50

 

Anybody running Geolandar g015’s at 245 or 255? Really trying to get strong A/T and pavement performance without going to 265. The reviews here and elsewhere online have been great. Would love to see a stance photo, even better with Bilstein 5100 all around. That’s where I’m leaning!

Same diameter, sure, but the recommended wheel width for those is 5.5-7” wide. Even with a 7” wide wheel you’ll be taking some off the diameter and less able to air down quite as much. Just things to consider going that skinny on a truck (then off roading the trails you mentioned with them).

 

Those look great online, thank you. Look smaller than a 255 on the truck tho! But I suppose we’re only talking a few mm’s.

 

Not Geolander’s but meets some of your requests. 255/75R17 Cooper AT3 4S on Bilstein 5100 all around (4th notch, 1.5” single AAL)

 

Looking great!! My color too. I think I saved this photo from another thread bc I loved the stance. 4th notch seems right to me, though I might throw a block in the back to keep some minor rake.

Also Have to look into whether the 255/7?/16s will fit on some SCS…someday. Right now I’m actually digging the ‘21 stock SR5 black rims.

255 really like narrower wheels. The widest SCS for a 254 would be a 8” anything wider and yea it may fit. But would look funny abs chance of rolling a bead higher.

 

Agreed, I've used these tires (Toyo MT 255's) on my Tacoma and my JK, on stock wheels only, this is a huge perk of these tires, a lot of money saved on wheels, but I realize some want the look of aftermarket wheels also.. On my JK everybody thought I was running skinny 35's since all the metric 35's on 10inch+ wide wheels the jeep guys used made my tires easily look as tall.
