Not this weekend, but weekend of 6/17 I'd be down to head up to AOAA or somewhere.

Anywhere in particular? My TRD is mostly stock for now but I'm sure it could hold up.

I've been to AOAA twice on saggy 220k mile stock shocks, springs, and stock size wildpeaks. Its a blast, and there are plenty of greens that are really fun, but able to do on a stock truck. Stock truck has the "more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow" feel applied to offroad capability

I love that line, sounds awesome! I still have a fair bit of work to do on the truck, funding just became an issue recently, especially being in the middle of an almost 4-month involuntary hiatus from work...

dude its a lot of fun! We could probably get a group going from this page and I've got a few friends from t4r.org that we could get a small group. I'm tied up this weekend and next, but weekend of 6/17 would probably work for me

Another benefit of wheeling a stock truck is you find what you want to upgrade based on need, rather than wants. I purchased some wildpeaks before getting out because H/Ts aren't really good offroad. If you don't have A/T tires, start there. Once out, I was scraping my underside a lot and tore one of the factory front skids right off (newb probably my line choice too), so I went with skids first (and it was cheaper than suspension). Then I started getting high centered on my skid, so I purchased a suspension setup and some tires to get extra oomf. This then tailors purchases towards your needs, rather than just throwing money at 5100s and 285s without testing.

That sounds awesome! I should be free 7/17, but y biggest concern would be getting stuck or something that require a lot of physical activity at this point - I'm stuck in a boot with a busted foot so while I can hobble around, I shouldn't put too much weight on it.

You make some great point about needs vs wants. One of my goals is surf fishing and beach driving. I have to take a look at my tires and figure out what I have, I'm not sure if they're considered A/T or just mall crawlers

Even mall crawler tires will be alright, as long as don't get into too much mud.

For getting stuck, I am the ripe age of 21 and willing to do physical activity. I've got a strap and looking to get one of those fancy kinetic ropes too after how nice it was to get yanked out by one. I haven't gotten stuck on any greens at AOAA, even in the snow. There are definitely safe areas to go without worry of getting stuck, I was definitely overly worried about getting stuck at first, but 4wd is pretty sweet for traction

I couldn't let you do anything for me, but I'd certainly accept a hand lol. As for kinetic ropes, I have a Bubba Rope myself, a few shackles, a Military Multipurpose Toolkit, first aid kit, and some climbing ropes if such need arises haha

Bit of a drive but it works for me. I'm sure most places nearby are a bit of a drive haha

I think you’re right. AOAA says 2.5 hrs from me…. Same as Assateague but I’m guessing no limit at AOAA.

Oh, I meant a limit of vehicles. I’m not sure if either of those places have a limit. Assateague has a limit of 145 vehicles on the beach at once. Plus it’s 145 for the sticker and pass.

How long is the pass/sticker good for? Since it's two items, I imagine one is for season and one is for instance?
