This. If you daily or even drive your truck to the play spot an interior cage isn't safe.

I KINDA get it like if your cage blocks your airbags....maybe? But as long as you build it around the airbags then it should be good right?

With a cage you ditch the airbags. You just need to make sure you are harnessed in. This is where I get risky at times as I kept my stock seat belts for what I drive around town. But otherwise I harness up

Harnessed in with helmets. Ever hit your head getting in your truck? or ride in a UTV or dune buggy with no helmet? Why? Unless you really, really tuck the cage into the trim panels you're going to hit your head on the cage in an accident. The manufacture builds the truck to a certain safety aspect of the occupant moving in a collision. Putting a piece of steel between your head and the interior trim is not what they had in mind. Do what you want. But I will not be putting a cage inside my truck.

The only cages I do are tucked past where the OE sheet metals intrudes into the occupant space. If you’re hitting you head on anything it’s because you’re not belted in. If you don’t wear seatbelts and think airbags will save you then I’ll just let Darwin take over.

I’d rather crash in the silver taco than anything else, the thing is a tank

Um, yeah. Every time I go to Glamis or any other desert. Helmets aren't required unless it's a UTV

That's the cages you and very talented builders build. Most of the cages we can build aren't like that.

There is a company that makes solid engine mounts. But I'd assume you would need solid transmission mounts also

Right. That's years down the road when this turd is gutted and a strait trail rig that has to be trailer queened everywhere. I know it's headed that direction eventually. Lol

If you're building cages that you risk hitting your head on in an accident then it's just as dangerous offroad helmet or not. I would never get in and strap into a vehicle where I risk hitting my head on a steel bar padded or not helmet or not. Look at any race car the occupants are far away from risk if hitting anything other than maybe a foot or hand on any part of the cage.

That's why I'll never buy a 4xinnovations cage or have anyone cage any vehicle of mine unless it's done like Harry did the silver truck.

He calls them solid but technically they are still a bushed engine mount just with universal polly bushings. You are correct you want your drive train mounts to match if not you could potentially have problems.

There is a company that already makes motor mount gussets and stuff. But that issue was remedied on the truck not sure it's necessary now.

Do you order your coilovers with a droop limiter thingy in order to protect the upper uniball? Or does an 8” coilover actually only have 7.5” stroke. Just curious.
